This is very shameful and irresponsible of the Nigerian Army. Rather than address the terrible welfare condition of Nigerian soldiers, you’re going after them for expressing frustration and you are targeting an activist for amplifying their suffering. You had no right whatsoever to arrest Justice Crack, a civilian who is not subject to Service Law. This is the height of impunity and lawlessness. If you believed that he committed any crime, you should have reported him to civil authorities. You arrested a civilian, detained him beyond 24 hours and kept mute until Nigerians exposed the fact that he is in your custody. Shame on whoever orchestrated this nonsense.
Nigerian Army@HQNigerianArmy

CLARIFICATION ON THE ARREST OF JUSTICE MARK CHIDIEBERE (JUSTICE CRACK) The attention of the Nigerian Army was drawn to the complaint made by some soldiers regarding their feeding and other matters relating to their welfare as posted on social media by a blogger/social media influencer, Justice Mark Chidiebere (Justice Crack). While the matter is being investigated for breach of the Armed Forces’ Social Media Policy and an attempt to misinform the public, preliminary report reveals that the soldiers discussed wide range of issues with Justice Chidiebere who seemed to be inciting soldiers to create discontent within the system. An example was a chat bothering on subversion which Chidiebere had with the soldiers. It is important to state that a situation where civilians cultivate vulnerable personnel towards acts of subversion has far-reaching implications on discipline and national security. Hence, Justice Chidiebere was picked by the Nigerian Army alongside the soldiers for investigation. While the soldiers remain in own custody, Chidiebere has been handed over to the relevant civil authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution. The Nigerian Army remains committed to the rule of law and will continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure justice is served. We will continue to act within the ambits of the law in safeguarding our sovereignty. APPOLONIA ANELE Colonel Acting Director Army Public Relations 2 May 2026

THERE IS NO WAY the first time you're committing extrajudicial killing, as a Nigerian Police Officer - is on tape, in public. To do so, is backed by a level of confidence - only sanctioned backyard killings has given you. It is definitely your operational standard.

FORCE LEADERSHIP ORDERS DISMISSAL,PROSECUTION OF OFFICERS INVOLVED IN EFFURUN SHOOTING The Nigeria Police Force hereby provides an update on the disciplinary actions taken following the fatal shooting incident of 26th April 2026 in Effurun, Delta State, which resulted in the death of Mr Mene Ogidi. Sequel to the earlier directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, all officers connected to the incident were immediately withdrawn from the Delta State Command and transferred to Force Headquarters, Abuja, where they were subjected to expedited disciplinary proceedings. The Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC), alongside other internal disciplinary processes, has concluded its review. Findings established unequivocally that the principal officer, ASP Nuhu Usman, acted in gross violation of Force Order 237 and other extant regulations governing the use of firearms. His actions were unlawful, unprofessional, and a clear betrayal of the oath to protect life and uphold the law. Consequently, the FDC has recommended the immediate dismissal of ASP Nuhu Usman and other officers found culpable. The Inspector-General of Police has approved the recommendations and forwarded same to the Police Service Commission for ratification in line with due process. Upon completion of the administrative procedures, the affected officers will be handed over to the appropriate judicial authorities for prosecution for their roles in the extrajudicial shooting. The Inspector-General of Police reiterates, in the strongest terms, that the Nigeria Police Force maintains a zero-tolerance stance on extra-judicial actions and abuse of power. No uniform confers the right to take life outside the provisions of the law. Any officer who violates this fundamental principle will face the full weight of disciplinary and legal consequences. The IGP extends his deepest and most solemn condolences to the family of the deceased, Mr Mene Ogidi. He acknowledges the pain and loss suffered and assures the family that this tragic incident will not be treated lightly. The Force is fully committed to ensuring that justice is not only served but seen to be served, in a manner that reinforces public confidence and institutional accountability. Members of the public are urged to remain calm and law-abiding, as the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to discipline, professionalism, and the protection of the rights and dignity of all citizens while ensuring accountability at all levels. Extrajudicial Killing in Effurun The extrajudicial killing of a young Nigerian Mr. Mene Ogidi, in Effurun, Delta State, by a police officer, is not only barbaric but also a grave violation of the rule of law. Over time, human society has moved away from an era when lives could be taken without consequence. Through the evolution of civilisation, a fundamental principle has emerged: no one should be punished or deprived of life without due process and a fair determination of guilt. Such acts inflict unimaginable trauma on the bereaved family and deepen public anxiety in an already distressed society. Nigerians are already traumatised by recurring reports of brutal killings by terror organisations across the country, and incidents of this nature - especially when involving state actors - only worsen that psychological burden and erode public confidence in safety and security. In light of this, while the law must take its full course, I commend the prompt response of the police authorities so far and express confidence that they will pursue this matter to its logical conclusion. Such responsiveness is necessary to reassure the public that justice will not be compromised. I therefore urge the police and all security agencies to sustain this approach by acting with transparency and accountability. Furthermore, recruitment processes must be more rigorous, ensuring that only individuals of sound judgment and the right frame of mind are entrusted with firearms. In the final analysis, these measures can restore public trust and uphold justice - both of which are indispensable to building a new Nigeria that is possible. -PO

ACP ALIYU SHABA is the Area Commander of Effurun Area Command, the officer incharge of Usman Nuhu and his gang that Extrajudicially killed Oghenemine. Watch out for a Conspiracy by some stakeholders in my State to cover up this crime. Watch out. Till now, ONLY ONE officer is in custody? What happened to others? Including the police officer that assisted Usman Nuhu to fix his AK-47 magazine? TILL ALL THE OFFICERS ARE FISHED OUT, I PERSONALLY WON'T STOP. DEMAND FOR THEIR PROSECUTION! #EndPoliceBrutality #ExtraJudicialKillings #alwaysfilmthepolice Harrison Gwamnishu
