The Government of India has announced a commemorative ₹60 coin to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. This coin, crafted from a Quaternary Alloy (50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc), weighs 35 grams, measures 44 mm in diameter, and features intricate designs on both sides. The obverse displays the Ashoka Pillar with the ₹60 denomination, while the reverse highlights the BITS Pilani building and inscriptions marking the Diamond Jubilee years: 1964–2024. We join in celebrating this proud legacy. We are pleased to announce that Dr Rahul Narnindi, Assistant Professor of Marketing, joined us recently! Dr Narnindi has a PhD in Marketing from the @sgSMU with a specialisation in quantitative marketing. His current empirical research explores the intersection of marketing and public policy, with a focus on the U.S. pharmaceutical industry. He has presented his work at several international conferences and was awarded the Dr. Srinivas K. Reddy Research Award in 2023 for research excellence. He also holds a B.Tech and M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from @iitmadras and an MBA from Singapore Management University. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr Narnindi worked with @NissanMotor and FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in Chennai. Welcome, Professor, to BITSoM. We are pleased to share that the MBA Class of 2026 has secured 100% Summer Internship Placement. The participating students achieved an average stipend of Rs 1.72 lakhs (for two months), and 54 organisations made offers. The highest stipend offered was Rs 4.50 lakhs. Offers spanned industries and roles, including Consulting, FMCG/FMCD, BFSI, IT, and E-commerce. While leading recruiters such as McKinsey & Co, Accenture, EY, PwC, Tata Sons, Britannia, and Colgate Palmolive reaffirmed their trust in BITSoM talent, students were also placed in niche roles at organisations like Cipher Oncology and the Aditya Birla Group Data & Analytics Cell. We are thrilled to announce that our Class of 2026 students have emerged as one of the top 10 finalists at the prestigious Harvard Global Case Competition 2025! One of the world’s most competitive finance case competitions, the event saw participation from over 1,000 teams across 33 countries. This year’s challenge focused on Ferrari’s potential acquisition of Pirelli. Guided by Professor Prabhu Venkatachalam, Assistant Professor of Finance at BITSoM, our students conducted a strategic evaluation of the industry and its valuation. They proposed a bold alternative: instead of acquiring Pirelli, Ferrari should consider acquiring QuantumScape, a solid-state battery innovator, aligning with its long-term goals of sustainability and innovation. Competing against teams from globally renowned institutions including Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Stanford, and Princeton, our students stood out as the only Indian B-school team to make it to the finals. Their outstanding achievement has earned them an invitation to an exclusive in-person networking event at Harvard on April 26-27, 2025. The event will gather top consulting firms, private equity investors, investment banks, and distinguished Harvard professors, offering engaging workshops, insightful lectures, and high-impact networking opportunities. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, and a visiting faculty at BITSoM, will do a masterclass on “Bots to Agents: The Past, Present and Future of Generative AI” as an open event. Participants will gain insights into GenAI's evolution, the current landscape of use cases in India and globally, and its probable trajectory. The session will also cover case studies of pioneering organisations that have successfully transformed GenAI from hype into business outcomes, uncovering key themes behind their success. Dr Wu is the Faculty Co-Director of Michigan Ross Fintech Initiative, a Michael R. and Mary Kay Hallman Fellow and a Stein Research Scholar. His research focuses on the interface of technology, finance and operations management. He develops and applies new approaches in natural language processing (NPL) and text analytics to study emerging and classic Operations Management problems. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Yale University. The participants were tasked with designing an AI-powered platform that addressed decision-making complexities at the CXO and Brand Manager levels.
