They've attempted to PROGRAM you for many decades now that the people of America back in the 1800s and early 1900s were very DUMB and CRUEL people because they actually EXECUTED murderers and rapists, and especially rapist-murderers. They invested A LOT of time, and energy and resources into 'making the sale' that were a much more ADVANCED civilization, a more SOPHISTICATED and MODERN society now that we stick murderers & rapists in a prison cell for a few years and then we let them go. They want you to believe the only reason the dumb, cruel people of America in the 1800s/1900s were executing murderers and rapists was because our society had not 'evolved' enough to 'get past' the 'desire for vengeance', and we are living in a much improved society now that violent murderers and brutal rapists are set free after a few years in prison. This was all brainwashing bullshit. And the illusion is fading. We're gonna go BACK to being a 'dumb and cruel' society that executes murderers and rapists. Because that was NEVER 'dumb' and neither was it 'cruel'. It was justice. And justice is coming back.
