Panelist: What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of the current president ZEED: A deeply rooted passion in the welfare of Unilorites. His weakness is that there was no proper handing over and synergy in the union. #pressnight26 #UCJUNILORINPressnight26

Panelist: If you're not an aspirant, would you vote for your opponent and why? MONARCH: Yes, provided his past records are okay and I would say No, if his past records aren't good #pressnight26 #UCJUNILORINPressnight26 #Unilorindecides2026

Every generation inherits a responsibility. A responsibility not merely to enjoy the benefits of those who came before, but to build upon their sacrifices and leave behind something worthy of remembrance. Today, with a deep sense of duty to our Union and an abiding belief in the possibilities of our student community, I, Ayanshina Olamilekan Sodiq, politically addressed as The Monarch, a 300 level student of the department of Sociology, faculty of Social Sciences, formally declare my intention to serve as the President of the Students' Union, University of Ilorin, for the 2026/2027 academic session. Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving Unilorites in different capacities. Those experiences have taught me a simple lesson: our colleagues do not ask for perfection. They ask for leadership that listens, leadership that understands their realities, and leadership that is willing to work relentlessly in pursuit of solutions. It is concerning that an underperforming and incompetent candidate has chosen “Power” as his campaign mantra. This reflects a desperation for authority rather than a commitment to service. A leader with genuine plans for students would campaign on vision, competence, and welfare
