That is the whole strategy. Ring up the prime suspect and inquire politely. This is the same president who already told Fox News that Putin “might be helping them a bit”, then shrugged it off as fair play.
Then came the part that should end careers. Any Russian help, Trump said, made little difference anyway, because Iran had been beaten. Twelve Americans were injured at that base. Two seriously.
I am not even American. I still find this obscene. If a foreign power were spotting targets for missiles landing on European troops, and our leader responded by promising to raise it gently with the man who ordered it, he would not survive the week. Parliament would eat him alive, and rightly so.
America instead schedules a segment about it, waits for a poll, and calls the hesitation strength. There is a word for a commander who will not name the country helping kill his own soldiers, and it is not caution.

My Dad was born in Poland and, he like all Ukrainians who experienced Polish rule, understood that Polish nationalism = fascism = intolerance towards national minorities.

Rick Wilson: Trump doesn't care about the war in Ukraine because he wants Putin to win. Let's be honest and clear about what this is.
NATO has figured this out. They play a lot of psychological games trying to keep Trump on side. But Trump wants Putin to be victorious.
He wants Russian tanks to roll through Kyiv because Zelenskyy would not participate in his 2020 election shenanigans with Burisma, trying to quote-unquote "prove" that Hunter Biden was some sort of international criminal.
The absurdity and the pettiness of it make me roll my eyes, but that's why Trump hates Ukraine. That's why he sides with Putin.
He's got reasons that have nothing to do with America's interests, they're about his own completely skewed values.
If you ask yourself, "How would Trump behave if he wanted Putin to win?" You can look at the last year and a half, and you know very clearly exactly how he'd behave.
