Canada strongly condemns Russia’s launch of large-scale missile and drone attacks on civilian targets in Kyiv tonight.
For more than four years since Russia’s illegal invasion, it has greatly underestimated the courage, determination, and strength of the Ukrainian people — even as Putin’s regime has relentlessly bombed Ukrainian energy infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and homes.
We call on Russia to immediately cease these strikes and end this illegal war of aggression. They prolong human suffering and do nothing to change the fact that Russia will lose this war.
Canada will continue working closely with international partners to secure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and Europe.

Russia Is a Terrorist State.

Horrific. Morning footage from Kyiv Ukraine after Russia poured ballistic missiles on civilian neighborhoods, targeting apartment buildings, schools, markets, and bomb shelters full of people. Video: @radiosvoboda's reporter Serhii Nuzhnenko.

@EmmanuelMacron Everyone in the world except you knows what a hypocrite you are. Must be so demoralizing to be you.

Russia hit a dead-end on the battlefield, so it terrorizes Ukraine with deliberate strikes on city centres.
These are abhorrent acts of terror meant to kill as many civilians as possible.
Moscow reportedly using Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles – systems designed to carry nuclear warheads – is a political scare-tactic and reckless nuclear-brinkmanship.
Next week, EU Foreign Ministers will discuss how to dial up the international pressure on Russia.

🇷🇺 Dmitry Medvedev:
"The drug-addicted freak and his Bandera-affiliated gang have provoked a harsh response from Russia with their terrorist attacks on children.
Apparently, this was intentional. They needed to trigger massive strikes against the structures located in Kiev.
Let everything burn! It's easier to beg for money and weapons this way. It's easier to steal. It's easier to make excuses. Especially since our strikes might help consolidate part of the electorate around the current despicable Kiev regime. Which, of course, is important for it in the upcoming elections in country 404.
So what, not to strike at all to avoid provoking the strengthening of the neo-Nazi regime?
No, of course not. We need to strike - as we are doing today, and even much more forcefully! After all, the ruins and gray ashes in the place of their capital's symbols demoralize the enemy no less than the loss of a battle standard."

A reminder that Russia is waging a terrorist war on Ukraine, and a reminder that standing by and watching are the richest nations on Earth, controlling the most powerful military alliance in history, an alliance created specifically to stop Russia in Europe. Sickening.

It was a horrible night in Kyiv. But if Putin thinks he can terrorize Ukrainians into submission, he is mistaken.

Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv and nearby towns early Sunday, with explosions shaking buildings for hours and multiple fires breaking out. The barrage included a rare intermediate-range Oreshnik missile.
At least four people were killed and nearly 100 injured across Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials.
“The attack was severe,” Ukrainian President Zelensky said. “The most hits were in Kyiv, and Kyiv was the main target of this Russian attack.”
“He’s truly insane,” Zelenskyy said of Vladimir Putin. “It’s important that this doesn’t go unpunished for Russia. Today, everyone in the world who doesn’t stay silent and who helps Ukraine is a defender of life.”

Tonight, the Russians struck Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities and communities. The largest number of missiles was directed at the capital – at ordinary residential buildings, at schools; they burned down a food market, one of Kyiv’s oldest markets. The Russian strike effectively destroyed the Chornobyl Museum, damaged the National Art Museum and the building housing the office of Germany’s ARD. As of now, 69 people have been reported injured in the capital. Tragically, two people were killed in this senseless Russian attack. My condolences to everyone who has lost family members and loved ones.
I have already spoken with the President of France and the Prime Minister of Norway. There will be further communication with our partners today. I am grateful to everyone who is not staying silent about what Russia is doing. They are waging war solely against our people – against our memory, our history, and everything that makes up normal human life. It is important that Russia understands that they will be held accountable for all these crimes.
