I’ve been talking about Embu since 2023. Embu sits on Coltan reserves, which is mined for Cobalt: used in every electronic device we use. It was a well kept secret till it was discussed in the State Visit of 2023. The one thing Moi did right was inhibiting mineral mapping.
Typical African@Joe__Bassey

In Africa, Kenya recently confirmed its first-ever national discovery of coltan across six counties, a strategic and valuable mineral used to manufacture capacitors in smartphones, laptops, and electric car batteries.

Several people have been killed in protest violence in Kenya where transport workers blocked roads over government fuel price hikes that took the cost of diesel to record levels.

@Naomikibandi @Karanimutonga She has work to do too: Alcohol consumption alone in Kiambu stands at 28.9%, significantly surpassing the Kenyan national average of 11.2%. 6 0% of these total acute poisoning cases result in death, with the highest concentration of lethal outcomes clustered in Thika Town.

@MaithyaVilivu I understand that. The alarms for El Niño begun in January. There’s a post you made anticipating the end of the rainy season (i.e. end of April to early May). We’re in mid-May. Between now and late September winter and summer are supposed to still happen.

As a potentially strong El Nino pattern emerges in the tropical Pacific, long range multi-model ensembles persistently paint a picture of suppressed rains in much of Kenya's Rift Valley, Western & even Nyanza in the Jun-Jul-Aug season. The Ethiopian highlands, Northern Uganda, South Sudan, Sahel region & even much of the Indian sub-continent will witness negative rainfall anomalies throughout the monsoon season between June & Sept 2026. Weaker monsoon winds in the Indian Ocean & increased vertical shear in the Atlantic all driven by the emerging El Nino will force these conditions over the said regions

Long range multi-model climate ensembles are pointing to two things in the coming months for #Kenya : 1. A not-so-good JJA rainy season for North Rift, Central Rift and Western (this has been mentioned in my previous analyses) 2. Enhanced precipitation from as early as August onwards (surprising) for North Eastern, Eastern and the Coast The emerging Super El Nino and lower than normal Atlantic Ocean SSTs are likely to shake up the local weather and climate in a big way. May 2026 model run outcome updates coming soon.

@MaithyaVilivu Where does the current heavy rainfall fall in this context? It’s supposed to be ending if not already over, but Nairobi and Nairobi North regions have high rainfall. Is it the El Niño warmth meeting Kenya’s winter causing precipitation?

An early forecast by MB super-ensemble for the Oct-Nov-Dec rainy season in #Kenya points to an early start of the season (anytime from Sept), with wetter-than-normal conditions characterized by heavy, relentless rains in the Eastern half of KE stretching from North Eastern to the Coast to Central Kenya (Inc. Nairobi😟). +ve anomalies of up to 40mm per day possible in parts of the Coastal region in Oct. We wait and see if these forecasts verify in the coming weeks/months.

Earth’s climate system is undergoing a major atmospheric reset. After several years of La Niña dominance, the tropical Pacific Ocean is rapidly shifting toward a strong El Niño, with some forecasts suggesting it could develop into a powerful “super” El Niño by late 2026 or early 2027. A massive reservoir of subsurface heat is building and surging eastward across the equator, propelled by a strong downwelling Kelvin wave. Researchers say the speed and scale of this oceanic heat pulse mirror the early stages of some of the most intense El Niño events on record. Just months ago, weak La Niña conditions still lingered; now, bursts of westerly winds are helping release vast amounts of stored warmth. El Niño and La Niña represent the warm and cool phases of the ENSO (El Niño-Southern Oscillation) cycle. During La Niña, strong trade winds push warm water westward, allowing cooler water to upwell in the east. When those winds weaken or reverse, the pent-up heat surges back eastward, injecting enormous energy into the global atmosphere, often likened to opening a pressure-release valve. Current climate models indicate a high probability of El Niño developing between May and July 2026 (around 80–82% chance), with near-certain persistence through the Northern Hemisphere winter. There is now a roughly 1-in-3 chance it could reach “super” or very strong status (with sea surface temperature anomalies ≥ +2°C). If a strong El Niño materializes, it could significantly influence global weather: disrupting jet streams, altering monsoon patterns, intensifying floods in some regions and droughts in others, suppressing Atlantic hurricane activity, affecting fisheries, and contributing to higher global temperatures. Scientists stress that while the exact strength remains uncertain, preparedness for these wide-ranging impacts is essential. [NOAA Climate Prediction Center ENSO updates (May 2026)]

🚨 OpenClaw Chain Vulnerabilities Expose 245,000 Public AI Agent Servers to Attack Source: cybersecuritynews.com/openclaw-chain… A chain of four critical vulnerabilities discovered in OpenClaw, one of the fastest-growing open-source platforms for autonomous AI agents, has left an estimated 245,000 publicly accessible server instances exposed to remote exploitation, credential theft, and persistent backdoor installation. Shodan and ZoomEye scans as of May 2026 reveal approximately 65,000 and 180,000 publicly accessible OpenClaw instances, respectively, totaling roughly 245,000 exposed servers. What makes this chain especially dangerous is that the attacker weaponizes the AI agent’s own privileges. #cybersecuritynews
