This is just objectively false.
It IS closer to the original formula than 5, a return to survival horror, resource management, puzzles, etc. it’s just in first person instead of having fixed camera angles.

No RE game has a story above a 7/10.

It absolutely did. RE6 sold well off the back of 4 and 5 and was a MASSIVE critical failure amongst fans and critics alike, killing the series for 6 years. RE7’s success is the entire reason RE has come back as strongly as it did.
“RE is better with characters we know and love.”
This series has been going on for three decades now, we gotta stop limiting RE to only the characters we have. I’m not the biggest fan of Ethan, he’s kinda white bread. But we need to allow Capcom to introduce new characters an elements into the story.
Resident Evil isn’t just about Chris, or Leon, or Jill, or anyone specifically. Part of why the series can go on so long is its ability to tell stories from countless perspectives of people involved, let Capcom explore that advantage.

Resident Evil 7 was not a good Resident Evil game. It may have paid homage in some elements shared with a plethora of games in the genre, but it strays just as far from the original formula as Resident Evil 5 did🚀 In terms of characters and story, it was cringe and Resident Evil is ALWAYS better when it has heroes we know and love. And also, no. It did not “save” Resident Evil, as RE6 is among the best selling games in the series and its RE2 (2019) that was the return to form, and would’ve happened anyway with or without RE7 and would’ve done just as great. And trying to use this game as proof that Zach Cregger’s movie will be good, is laughable. Fight me🎤 #REBHFun

@ZacClary11 You right but at some point yall gotta realize there’s different teams that work on different parts of the game. The gameplay team and UI design team are not the same. So there’s no reason for us to not have max effort from every team.

Here’s the problem. It’d be cool for about the first 10 games then you’re gonna skip it. Nobody watches the 2K stuff with Shaq and them. It would be the same wasted feature. Put that effort into other realism, atmosphere and gameplay.

Outside of the characters names there is very little continuity between Netflix daredevil and born again. There was no “homework” to be done and no need to watch Netflix daredevil prior. So I disagree

This is 100% just my guess/opinion that could be wrong but... I think that a big thing hurting Daredevil Born Again is the very thing that is helping it be gas: Kevin Feige's decision to make the Netflix universe canon in the middle of Born Again S1's production. Before they pivoted, Born Again Season 1 was going to be a fresh start with a new variant of the character played by Charlie Cox. This meant that viewers wouldn't *need* to watch Netflix Daredevil Seasons 1-3 to get the plot (much like how we don't need to watch the Snyderverse to understand Gunn's new DCU.) But with the decision, Daredevil Born Again Season 2 is now effectively Daredevil Season 5...which means there's a lot of homework new viewers feel they have to do in order to enjoy it. Again, this is just a guess. There are a ton of factors that could go into this. But regardless, if you're not watching Daredevil Season 2, you're missing out on peak MCU writing, acting and cinematography.

Homelander being locked in Vought containment cell, looking miserable and helpless with Butcher witnessing and enjoying every moment it
MM telling Butcher he loved every moment of thinking he was going to die.
Hughie and Kimiko’s chaotic moments…
Homelander sparing his father when he had every reason to kill him.
Not to talk about how it’s also one of the funniest episodes.
Everything about this episode was good.
