@blahts if anything, professional criticism on the whole has been largely defanged over the past few decades, to the point that the really acerbic, biting, ebert style of criticism is the exception, not the rule, in mainstream published criticism!

people are saying the actual quote in the article is more nuanced, but I read it and uhhhhhhhhhhhh no, not really! why is it always comedians, the same people who can't stop telling other people to toughen up and learn to take a joke, who can't take even a little criticism?

@Category_Fury I'm jealous because it stressed me out so much, but also I'm so glad I went in a very different direction with my life.

@marilynmaupin @genadoesthings @AWolfeful Patients are allowed to make decisions about risk and benefits of a given treatment. There being side effects to treatment isn't what is controversial about her claim. Hope this helps!

@Category_Fury I'm thankful every day that the math gre required me to memorize anti-derivatives, and thus, fail it.

@RottenInDenmark Even if you believe that this somehow discredits them or requires a disclaimer, the burden of proof is still on the lady making huge claims about medical misconduct! *No* additional support has come out for her account.
English

@genadoesthings @AWolfeful If it were nearly any other group of people, the media would understand that the burden of proof is on the woman making the bold claims, not the families refuting them.

@MikeRiverso @KindaSortaMaebe Naw, we get a small nub of eldritch horror in the bottom of his pic.

@KindaSortaMaebe Something about how his arm meets his shoulder looks wrong to me; it's like the bone is aiming way below the socket.

@ThoughtSlime This seems to be a fake screenshot. I believe in my heart he would say this though.

@coherentstates One thing that really gets my goat about this bit is that you can literally ask trans women why they left these jobs after they transition. Hint: it's not that they can't hack it anymore.

@Iron_Spike I remember being shocked when i first read calvin and hobbes collections as a kid because I couldn't comprehend that newspapers would run things that could actually make me laugh.

@lil_mermaid It's unfortunate, because this wisdom can only be seen by those who have already tasted the high of posting.

@scumbelievable My extremely boomer dad insisted on watching under the skin with me after i left my physical copy around while living at home.

@shaun_vids My conservative dad literally won't believe me when I tell him Biden kept or enhanced every trump immigration policy except a boondoggle wall no matter how many times I share him articles about it.

@punished_cait I mean, he actually just wishes he owned reddit, but with twitter's "prestige". Reddit has coins, so here we go coins.

@jaythenerdkid I feel like there's a corollary to this where it makes attention from older people feel less weird at the time. "of course that old man thinks teen girls are hot, because they are super hot", when uhhhhhh no. That's not normal.
English

@lesbiandroid This has convinced me but twitter can't let me change my vote.

@poppy_haze There's also the time a bomb went off outside sf mayors house when the cops were striking to get more pay in the 70s.

never forget the 1992 NYC City Hall Riot, drunken cops screaming the N-Word at the mayor and it helped create Rudy Guiliani's career as he helped incite the riot
the newspapers blamed the mayor for "playing the race card" for being upset at the slurs
