The United States should assist the Nigerian authorities with better cutting-edge technology to tackle these problems, rather than posing a threat that could further polarise our country. The Nigerian government should also consider appointing special envoys from its distinguished diplomats to engage the American government. Additionally, it is necessary to appoint permanent ambassadors to represent Nigeria’s interests on the international stage. That is exactly what I did while leading an international organisation in Abuja. I noticed that the security staff never ate at the kitchenette like the regular staff during lunch hours, when not wearing uniforms their private clothes were old and almost torn, they depended on tips from regular staff after running errands for their transport fares, and a lady amongst them was discreetly sleeping in the office to cut costs of transportation. When i found out about the lady, i couldn't help but dig deeper into the problem and was told that they are outsourced through a security company that paid them about N30,000 monthly, no personal insurance, no medical insurance, and no pension benefits. I invited the company management to a meeting and made it known that with the prevailing cost of living in Abuja, we can't have our assigned security men and women paid less than N55,000 monthly. The company team thought i was joking. When I confirmed the following month that they still paid about N30,000 as salary, i caused them to be served a contract termination, to which they fired the security men and women promptly. We responded by engaging the security team as regular staff members at a minimum net salary of N85,000/month with medical, pension, annual leave, and other benefits added. It's called fairness. It's called humanity. Just assume for a minute that you are in the other person's shoes, and you'll be able to make a fair decision.
