@courage_mi68430 @Whyiize1 @SavvyRinu And when you say the previous Government, please get your facts right, it’s almost 12 years. You make it sound like it was yesterday. If you’re anywhere around Calabar, I hope you never use the term “Scolombo” these kids have names.

VIDEO: Cross River Government officials picked up street kids, all boys, tied them up like criminals and beat them with cutlass. Their offense was being homeless kids.

Every fintech doesn't have to revolve or be about Finance 🤧 We desperately need an app that can connect Landlords to Tenants directly 🙂

Children need protection, rehabilitation, education, and care not labels or stigmatization.

…rehabilitating them to become model citizens? Negatively branding the children does nothing to solve the problem. It only deepens the trauma, criminalizes poverty, and shifts responsibility away from the institutions and structures that have failed them in the first place.

When the systems meant to protect children collapse, the streets become their last refuge in most cases. For those saying that the children are all violent, if that were true, How is tying them up and beating them helping to fix the situation? How is dehumanizing the children..

It is important to note that children do not wake up and choose the streets. They are pushed there by one of many things : failed family systems, poor or absent parenting, poverty, abuse, displacement, and also the chronic failure to properly enforce and uphold child rights laws.

by the officials. These officials and the general society go after the smaller children who can easily be intimidated and abused without any dire consequences and label them as the perpetrators of crimes they know nothing about.

We have been working with children on the streets for the past 12yrs and still counting. Over these period of time, there has never been a case of these smaller children assaulting or harassing anyone. The older boys on the streets in their 20s and late teens are never harassed..

@courage_mi68430 @Whyiize1 @SavvyRinu These kids have had to live their whole life around people who think like you, people who fear them and call them names rather than do the right thing; show some kindness. The world is really what you make it.

@EmeanaI @SavvyRinu I promise you, if you have ever encountered people will weapons they were not these children. And if you have ever had an issue, it’s probably because you called them “Skolombo” Can’t be calling me the name of my oppressors and expect me to take it likely with you.

@SavvyRinu I would rather the government failed them. These kids are really heartless. You need to see them with their weapons 😏
