If I want to send over $1,000 to anyone using my bank, I have to do it over multiple days or pay extortionate fees. The banks also rehypothecate my funds, take nearly all the profit, and offload most of the risk onto me while giving me insulting interest rates. If the bank fails and is not a major chain or is spuriously chosen to not be bailed out, my funds exceeding $250K can be lost. If you're in a country suffering hyperinflation, crypto stablecoins are the easiest way dollar-hedge. If you want to send donations directly to people in impoverished countries without robust financial infrastructure or with punitive exchange rate fees, crypto is by far the best option. If you want to hold deflationary assets not beholden to the whims of the FED, central banks, or other unelected bodies, crypto allows you to do that. If you want to actually own your assets in a safe and secure way without any third-party custodian, there is no better option than crypto. Most importantly, if you want to avoid a corrupt or ideologically captured government spuriously seizing your assets for political prosecution (like we saw in Canada during COVID), there is no better option than crypto. Crypto is a hedge against governmental tyranny, something America was founded on and something some of us still believe in.
