@bcherny Fix my extra credits. Why am I getting only 85 Euro when I pay 127 every month?

Starting tomorrow at 12pm PT, Claude subscriptions will no longer cover usage on third-party tools like OpenClaw. You can still use these tools with your Claude login via extra usage bundles (now available at a discount), or with a Claude API key.

Codex is great and a good alternative to Claude Code but Apple doesn't position Apple as an alternative to Samsung or cheaper Samsung or better Samsung or anything like that. OpenAI needs to get its comms together without employees diluting the brand in random ways. And its very straightforward to see Anthropic's comms with only a few folks posting about anything related to Claude Code.

@bcherny @seshubon Fix mine too. Why do I get only 85 Euro in credits when I pay 127 Euro/month? 😡 You're already charging me more than you do your US customers because the base Max sub is 100 US vs 100 EUR and the EUR is more xpensive. Fix it.

@thsottiaux No, Codex gave me wrong solutions to a problem two times in a row, while Claude one-shotted it. Both had the same instructions and context. With current AI models, you either get cheap stupidity or expensive intelligence. No in-betweens.

From the surge in demand on Codex and many other services, it is clear that AI companies are going to go through a phase of demand outpacing supply. Two things will be most important, having the most capacity and having the most efficient models. I believe we have both.

@bcherny My Max subscription costs 127 Euro a month. This is nowhere close to it!

@bcherny You charge me the same as your US customers (it's actually more because it's in Euro) but you give me fewer credits?!?!?

@bcherny I pay 127 Euro every month for my Max subscription. 85 Euro is not equal to it in any way. 😡

Subscribers get a one-time credit equal to your monthly plan cost. If you need more, you can now buy discounted usage bundles. To request a full refund, look for a link in your email tomorrow. support.claude.com/en/articles/13…

@lydiahallie Do you have plans to switch into message-based limits instead of token-based? And then give Pro users at least 3000 Opus queries per week (5x/20x for Max)?

Digging into reports, most of the fastest burn came down to a few token-heavy patterns. Some tips: • Sonnet 4.6 is the better default on Pro. Opus burns roughly twice as fast. Switch at session start. • Lower the effort level or turn off extended thinking when you don't need deep reasoning. Switch at session start. • Start fresh instead of resuming large sessions that have been idle ~1h • Cap your context window, long sessions cost more CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_COMPACT_WINDOW=200000 We're rolling out more efficiency improvements, make sure you're on the latest version. If a small session is still eating a huge chunk of your limit in a way that seems unreasonable, run /feedback and we'll investigate

Hey @bcherny @claudeai I'm on the $200/mo plan and blowing through usage instantly. Doesn't feel right. Is there any way to audit my account? Unfortunately I have experienced several bugs with the Claude product and I fear my plan configuration is not correct. Thanks

@nichtleoo @kimmonismus The lower usage limits were supposed to last only until 2x off-peak limits were present. And yet, they made them permanent.

@kimmonismus Barely hitting limits from Germany. Read on Reddit that it depends heavily on your timezone and region because during US peak hours the quotas burn through way faster. Feels like Anthropic maxed out their server capacity and is quietly throttling by geography.

These tweaks helped, but it’s still far from what it used to be: - disable 1M context - re-enable clear context and go back to 200k - load skills only when needed - keep LSP per project, not global - do a soft cache cleanup Claude usage gets noticeably better after 7 PM UTC

@Steve_Dolinsky @lydiahallie It's a bonus that ran for 2 weeks, where you'd get 2x the usage when you use the models outside of peak hours. And then, two days before this bonus was over, they lowered limits for usage during peak hours. Not just temporarily but permanently.

@lydiahallie What does "peak-hour limits are tighter" mean, I don't use this platform daily but I do remember this from a few weeks ago.

@lydiahallie Peak-hour limits being tighter was supposed to only last for two weeks and go away with the higher off-peak limits, right?

Peak-hour limits are tighter and 1M-context sessions got bigger, that's most of what you're feeling. We fixed a few bugs along the way, but none were over-charging you. We also rolled out efficiency fixes and added popups in-product to help avoid large prompt cache misses

@gdb Why? No one cares about Codex, do people even use it, I never hear anything about it. Why don’t you do something we actually care about and give us back 4o. #keep4o

@gdb Finally after being blocked forever for whatever reason 😭 ..m y'all finally accepted my $5 ... It's okay. It's a small start - curious what this new upgrade brings. Check with Stripe there was a time they were blocking payments unnecessarily. Maybe it's a cloud flare issue
