"At 6-foot-1, 225 pounds, @TristanBissetta has a lot of raw power and that plus his experience in the heat of a postseason run last year suggests big things." @fridaystarters takes a look at the outfielder and other potential breakout candidates for @ClemsonBaseball ⤵️

Swayze Crazies at Ole Miss™️
With 4️⃣3️⃣ days to go until the return of Ole Miss Baseball, we take a look at jersey number 50 Taylor Rabe. Taylor is a true freshman out of Greenville, South Carolina attending Greenville High where he was the Gatorade Player of the Year. Rabe is another long 6'5" 200 lb RHP in the Rebs' Class of 2023. Taylor cited several reasons for coming to Oxford to further his college career. Taylor said, "He knew that he wanted to compete in the SEC," but he wantedtogo out of stateto grow personally and meet new people. He chose Ole Miss in large part because of the relationships that he had with the coaches. "All the coaches at Ole Miss are tremendous people that you want to be around for 6 hours a day. They have a history of winning and developing high caliber players." From a low 3/4s arm slot, Rabe has a very repeatable low effort delivery. Holding between 91-93 mph, Taylor's primary weapon is a fastball topping out at 94 mph that he locates well to all quadrants of the zone. Rabe also throws a power slider in the low 80s that he relies on for the swing-and-miss. Taylor rounds out his repotoire with an 82 mph changeup. Rabe describes himself as a strikethrower. "I believe I do a tremendous job of filling up the zone with strikes and competing in the zone." Rabe will likely contribute immediately in middle relief, and he can be used in midweek starts if needed. Rabe said, "As a starter, I'm going to fill up the zone and get outs with 3 pitches. I also believe that my repeatable mechanics are good for a starter to be able to throw long. As a reliever, I'm a guy that can come in with runners on and throw strikes." Taylor is a pitches to contact, and that will benefit the Rebs greatly in getting out of jams by creating more double plays. The 2024 Diamond Rebs have something that all great teams need to have in order to reach their lofty postseason goals--team chemistry. As several players have attested to, Rabe confirms, "team chemistry is one of the biggest strengths of this team. (With over 20 new faces), you'd think it would be hard to gel, but we get along extremely well spending a lot of time together eating and watching football." When asked how he feels about opening up on the road in Hawaii, Rabe said, "I'm extremely excited about opening up in Hawaii. I have never been there and getting the opportunity to go there and play baseball is very exciting. (It will also lend even moreso to this year's team chemistry) to go on a long trip like that and become closer before a long season." Taylor had a good fall, and he attributes his success to being "persistent" in his work. Rabe admitted, "Pitching to SEC hitters is very different than high schoolers, and I had to adapt to that. Getting better at throwing fastballs to both sides of the plate and throwing changeups for strikes were all the things I worked on. Talking to (Coach) Laff and my teammates helped me improve not only my stuff but my confidence on the mound." Diamond Reb fans need to familiarize themselves with this young pitcher from South Carolina for the coming years. After he gains more valuable experience in his freshman season, look for Taylor Rabe to develop into a potential rotation centerpiece as early as early as next spring. The future is very bright for this Class of 2023 gem.
