Meet my 10-year-old sister, a curious mind with big dreams. 💻 While most kids her age are playing games, she's asking questions like "How do hackers break into systems?" and "How can I protect people online?" She wants to learn cybersecurity.

Can we talk about how much thought goes into designing a hero section? It's ONE section, but it carries the entire first impression. I can breeze through app flows, but hero sections? Way more intentional. Because it has ONE job: → Stop the scroll → Explain instantly → Create curiosity In 3 seconds. No second chances So yeah, I'm deliberate: Testing headlines. Adjusting spacing. Reworking CTA positioning. Not stuck, just know it matters. What part of landing pages do you spend the most time on? Hero sections? Pricing? Social proof? What are you most intentional about? #WebDesign #UXDesign #ProductDesign

This is super helpful—thank you Hesitation time is brilliant. I tracked errors and completion time, but never thought to measure the pause before first action. That would've caught so much decision paralysis I missed. Definitely trying backtracks/path reversals on my next project. Appreciate you breaking this down 🙏

@blexnberi Great Q. I pair objective + subjective: (1) backtracks/path reversals; (2) hesitation time before first action; (3) time-to-first-confident completion + errors; (4) quick subjective (NASA-TLX or single-ease). High backtracks + long hesitation usually = decision load, not skill.

Your "simple" navigation is probably confusing. I thought I knew what simple meant until I tested with neurodivergent kids. What I called "clean and minimal" was creating a massive cognitive load. Here's what I got wrong: BEFORE: Icons without labels My reasoning: "Everyone knows what a heart means." Reality: Users had to guess. Guessing = anxiety = drop-off FIX: Added text labels to EVERY icon → Engagement jumped BEFORE: Features hidden in dropdown menus My reasoning: "Keeps interface clean." Reality: Out of sight = doesn't exist FIX: Exposed 3 most-used features on main screen → 10% fewer errors BEFORE: Subtle color changes for states My reasoning: "It's elegant." Reality: Half the kids didn't notice when something was selected FIX: Made states OBVIOUS (bold borders, high contrast) → No more confusion The lesson: "Simple" doesn't mean minimal. Simple means obvious. When I redesigned for clarity over aesthetics: → 20% more engagement → 10% fewer errors → Better for ALL users, not just neurodivergent kids My rule now: If a 7 year-old has to think about it, I redesign it. What "best practice" have you had to unlearn? #UXDesign #InclusiveDesign #Accessibility

Testing beats taste" - I'm stealing that. The hardest part was accepting that what looked "cleaner" to me didn't actually work better for users. You're spot on about exploratory vs. expert users. Mine were kids using apps for the first time, so double exploratory. How do you measure cognitive load? I mostly tracked error rates and task completion time, but curious what else works.

Testing reveals what intuition hides. 'Clean and minimal' isn't objective—it's context-dependent. Icons without labels work for expert operators; they create massive load for exploratory users. The real skill: measuring actual load, not assuming design symmetry. Testing beats taste.
