@KeepItDownNews @DHSCgovuk @wesstreeting @grok The group figures include GPs in training, (including hospital training) but yes, there are roughly 500 more trained GPs than a year ago, though still over 700 fewer than 2015, whilst population figures have increased over 11%. Overall patients per GP are 15% more than 2015.

@BMA_GP @NHSEngland GPs need more control and an eye kept on them! They do as they please, to whatever standard they please. They hardly operate at the moment so don't think you should be using that as a reason

@RainbowBee7 @fliss59 @BMA_GP @NHSEngland You're aware that GP is the only part of the NHS that delivers within budget? That they do that by those GPs making the hard decisions in an effective way? That they delivered the covid vaccine programme after Trusts failed to do so & increased productivity 50% in the last 5 yrs?

@fliss59 @BMA_GP @NHSEngland There is but a lot of managers are puppets doing the bidding of their employers rather than sorting out the hard decisions and advising their GPs so they can get on with seeing patients.

@AFCLee_ @davehartin @Leedsviv But there has been a massive increase in Staffing, hospital Doctor numbers growing faster than the population, but productivity (and capacity) has actually dropped, GP numbers not so good, but now seeing 1.4M patients a day compared with 1M prepandemic. GP earnings dropping...🤷‍♂️

@davehartin @Leedsviv Without massive increases in staffing and capacity. Change the system. Payment for activity and quality. Bring back the old individual list system in primary care so one gp is fully responsible for all the patients on their list. Allow great GPs to earn great money

The point is NO ONE values GP time (except patients) everyone in Health Service delivery thinks GP time comes "for free" - and the ARRS scheme does nothing to dissuade them of that view - VALUE GPs PROPERLY - and sort out budgets so costs cannot be moved fron trusts to GPs

@wesstreeting we sorted out the prescribing interface & got a local trust to work to contract, no dumping - 3 months in they want to renege on the deal as it's costing them £20K a month in drug costs to actually do what they are supposed to do, 1/2

I'm prepared to bet it's a "general practice" or "primary care" budget and someone has specifically made a decision to exclude GPs. If it's a generic primary care budget, it should include ALL staff, this is an automatic discrimination.

In the last 5 years GP practices have lost funding worth over £660 million. Patients, GPs, and every part of the NHS have been majorly impacted. Without an immediate uplift, the dam will not be able to hold much longer. #RebuildGP #TeamGP
