Six of the Ten most visited museums in the world are in China. Of those, China dominates the top three spots. Been to the Palace Museum in Beijing yet?

@Biyombonesaw Or in the case of American diasporites, mad because their uncle's fourth speculative apartment purchase can't be rent or sold for as much profit as they'd like. Again, scum.

Everyone I know who complains about Xi is either a Chinese liberal with a well off family, or a white person who is spouting talking points from a Chinese liberal with a well off family. It's like getting opinions on Mao or Stalin from landowners
Jostein Hauge@haugejostein

This is one of the most off-target criticisms of Xi I can think of. Xi is actually more popular among working class people and those in rural areas than urban elites. This is because of his heavy focus on poverty alleviation, rural development, and reining in the wealthy.

@AndyBxxx LMFAO 48 yuan. What the hell are they getting up to at the Gansu airport? I've felt like the prices at other Chinese airports have been a lot more reasonable, if still inflated

The worst “coffee” I've had in my life. It's not even from a machine, or freshly brewed, and it set me back 48 yuan (US$7). That's daylight robbery. 📍Dunhuang Airport, Gansu

@IAmDouglasKim I did my fair share of trying to persuade people, change things, etc., but ultimately the US is nowhere near ceasing its evils, nowhere near developing a citizenry that doesn't love child-killing imperialism. After talking to my 10,000th grotesque liberal freak I had enough

@MikeA866964983 @johnshreffler0 Do they have tons of meat left? They're scraping the barrel at this point, literally grabbing disabled 48 year olds off the street. The only mild relief would be western nations forcing home all able-bodied Ukrainian men, and even that would just delay the inevitable

@johnshreffler0 I do not see how Russia brings the war to a conclusion without hitting the entire leadership of Ukraine. Ukraine still has tons of meat they can throw at the front.

Generally there’s a call and response aspect to military innovations. The Luftwaffe uses a beam guidance system and the RAF learns how to jam it. The machine gun makes for a protracted trench war stalemate and the tank overcomes it. I’m expecting that the Ukrainian Drone Wall will be countered by the Russians but am not technically aware enough to predict how. The Ukrainian front lines are so depleted of manpower that Russian DRGs were penetrating and hunting down Ukrainian drone operators and the Ukrainians countered with truck mounted company sized fire brigades. Waiting to see what happens next. The Russians are very quick to adapt and probably have something up their sleeve.
Policy Tensor@policytensor

“So the question is whether the drone revolution can overturn the attrition math to push it forward or even reverse it. Can it move the needle very much? In order to answer this question, we need to model both [drone and attrition] simultaneously.” 1/2

Russian journalist Dmitry Drize writes that a new phrase is entering circulation in Moscow political commentary: “Global London,” the idea that Britain is trying to restore its old leading role in world affairs, including over Ukraine. Drize is sceptical, however, pointing to Britain’s failed attempts to crack down on Russia’s “shadow tanker fleet” and what he describes as the underwhelming results of recent UK operations in the Middle East. As for Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Drize quips that he already appears “effectively resigned.” “If Admiral Nelson, Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher and others are watching this ‘Global London’ from above,” he writes, “it’s not difficult to imagine their emotions.”

@SecondRingSZN Japanese rule helped Taiwanese to become first world modern developed country. Taiwan railways, cities, universities, hospitals, irigation canals almost everything that is used now was designed by Japanese. But Chinese are not able to comprehend that and it makes them angry.
