I lost my brother Kevin a few years ago. He had a hard life. He was diagnosed with DM1 before aging out of foster care into a world that was unprepared to help him. He eventually had most of the downstream effects and it didn’t end well. Today is his birthday.

Im always optimistic on New Year’s. Much, much more difficult this time after a brutal 12 months — where too many leaders and educators were unwilling or unable to stop the hate, or, even worse, supported it. Y’all can yell at me all day long for not liking “uterus haver,” “pregnant person,” or “birthing person.” I think it’s degrading and misogynistic to refer to women by bodily functions. I love trans people and I believe 10/10 in our rights, but this is political malpractice. I want nothing to do with this and any sane trans woman that actually values her women friends should feel the same.
