🆘🆘 DABA (ID 251389), 1 YO, MALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 4/6/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person health - medical. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 5/21/26 ➡️ ONLY A BABY – JUST BEGINNING LIFE ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 44 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ DABA IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Daba makes an adorable first impression, if not an entirely welcoming one and that's ok. I admired how he stretched his little paw out on his box like he was in mid-knead and he decided to leave it as is. Really, so cute. I said songs could be written about that paw and Daba surreptitiously rolled his eyes and tried to explain that he was busy by pretending to nap. I know very well that snuggles (and compliments) aren't always the way to someone's heart, so I quietly closed Daba's condo door to sit and read for a little bit. The Daba I met before reading and the Daba I met afterwards are almost two different cats. The next time I held my hand out, he nuzzled into me and looked for more pets. This makes a little sense because in his previous home Daba was friendly and outgoing with people and other cats. There are times he likes to take a moment or so to warm up, which we see at the shelter, but we're so sure that after a little time, a lot of patience and love, Daba will become the sparkly young cat he's meant to become. Daba tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. 🆘🆘 FLUFFY (ID 249415), 10 YO, SENIOR – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 5/10/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 5/21/26 ➡️ SENIOR ALERT ➡️ MEDICAL PRIORITY – NEEDS MORE CARE AND ATTENTION THAN THE SHELTER CAN PROVIDE -IN FELINE ICU - 😱😱😱 ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 10 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ FLUFFY IS ON THE EPL FOR MEDICAL REASONS -Fluffy is a 10 year old cat with diabetes and obesity. He will need insulin administration twice daily and regular veterinary visits for diabetes follow-up. Behaviorally, Fluffy has been very interaction and loves petting. This evaluation/diagnosis means that FLUFFY will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Embracing his unconventional living arrangements and unique designation of resident cat seal, Fluffy stretches out on his giant bed in his enormous dog crate to half roll over and show us his belly. He's currently staying in our medical wing because of some medical needs, hence the crate and bed, but Fluffy seems to emphatically say with every chirp, nuzzle and headbunt that these are just things and what he really wants are friends. A terrifically social senior gentleman, he bounced around a little bit before arriving at his most recent guardian where he was a friendly and quiet couch potato, playing when interested but with a sweet gentleness. Fluffy's now with us looking for a forever home and he's hoping that you'll come in and visit him soon. Fluffy interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems.
