May the wisdom of water never forsake me. To survive the sea of being, I must learn surrender—learn to use my breath to redeem myself, to propel myself efficiently & not pour energy into wasteful motions. & to remember that a floundering rescuer drowns with their savior complex.

My neighbour has an eight-year-old son whose right leg was amputated after a bout with bone cancer. From time to time, she brings him over whenever she needs to run an errand and there is no one else available to keep an eye on him.

Perhaps one day, what has to be renegotiated is the very idea that you have a limit at all.

If you demonstrate to your body that it can survive more than the mind has stipulated, the body will shock the mind out of its framing, and the mind has to renegotiate a new limit.

The motivational speakers say it and it sounds stupid, but it's true. In many cases, the limits you place on your body are a reflection of the limits on your mind.

People who have unfalsifiable, woo-woo beliefs about the world often point to weird pattern-cluster of events as proof of worldview accuracy. What they fail to realize is that difficult-to-explain pattern-clusters are PRECISELY the engine of every false worldview there ever was.

When confronted with unusual data, people often reach for familiar explanatory frameworks rather than first asking if the problem belongs within any of the frameworks they already have; sometimes the narrative they thread is so farfetched that it borders on existential falsehood.

Sometimes, you have to protect yourself from people's good intentions towards you.
