Every guy who has ever wanted to climb and made it to high elo in League of Legends have had these 4 relationships. --- 1. The guy who's higher elo than you This guy should be someone you look up to. He's really good at the game and is able to help guide you in the right direction whether its his gameplay or directly chatting with you about your struggles. Most often times this person is a streamer, coach, or simply someone high ranking. You take notes about his mindset, playstyle, explanations, and implement it into your gameplay. he needs to tell you the UNCOMFORTABLE shit. not "nice try bro" but "you're greedy, your mechanics are shit, and you play like you're scared of your own shadow" if your "mentor" makes you feel good about losing, he's not a mentor. he's a fucking therapist. --- 2. The guy whos your competition This guy is similar elo to you. You crack jokes with each other about how bad the other guy is but you both secretly are trying to get better to brag to each others faces. this is the relationship nobody talks about but EVERY high elo player has. when he hits diamond 3 and you're still diamond 4, you feel that shit in your bones. you queue harder. you study while he's asleep. you refuse to let him gap you. you need someone who makes you feel EMBARRASSED when they're ahead. someone who forces you to be better or eat sh*t. --- 3. The guy who is lower elo than you This guy is lower elo than you and will often ask for advice. He forces you to think about certain situations you have not consciously thought about before. This guy low key makes you understand the game that "YOU KNOW" faster than a high elo player ever would. because when a silver asks "why didn't you fight there?" you can't just say "i dunno, felt wrong" you have to EXPLAIN it. you have to break down the mental math you're doing automatically. --- 4. The egirl(s) Girls naturally bring out your competitive side in a way guys don't. you want to impress. you want to look good. you want to POP OFF. egirls are soft. they're not grinding solo queue at 2am. they're not watching replays. they're playing lux support and asking if their skin is cute. but that softness? that's exactly why you need them. because when you're duoing with her and she's running it down for the 3rd time, you can't tilt. you can't type. you can't FF. you have to 1v9. you have to BE THAT GUY. she's not going to save you. she's not going to carry. she's going to miss every skillshot and apologize with a cute "oopsies :3" and you're going to have to win ANYWAY. --- here's what nobody tells you about these 4 relationships: they CREATE each other. the guy above you teaches you to be better. so you gap your rival. your rival pushes you to learn deeper. so you can actually EXPLAIN shit to the lower elo guy. teaching him makes your fundamentals cleaner. the diamond guy notices. the egirl sees you improving. she stays. your rival sees her. he grinds harder. you grind harder to keep up. it's a fucking ecosystem. and you're either building it or you're grinding alone wondering why you're hardstuck. meanwhile your "friend group" is 5 gold players all telling each other "unlucky" after every loss. you're all passengers validating each other's cope. look at your league friends list right now. do you have these 4? the mentor who tells you uncomfortable truths? the rival who makes you feel behind? the student who forces you to understand what you know? the girl who makes you want to be better? if not, you're not climbing. you're just playing league. killers build killer circles. passengers collect passengers. which one are you building? study the saskio way
