Today marks 9 years since the passing of Martin McGuinness.
A man who lived many lives in one from the streets of Derry during some of the darkest days of conflict, to becoming a central figure in the peace process that helped shape the Ireland we know today.
Martin McGuinness was a man of conviction, resilience, and ultimately transformation. Whether you agreed with him or not, there is no denying the role he played in moving our country from conflict towards peace.
His journey from republican activist to Deputy First Minister alongside political opponents showed what was possible when courage met compromise. He stood firm in his beliefs, yet proved that dialogue and leadership could change the course of history.
For many, he remains a symbol of strength, leadership, and the pursuit of Irish unity. For others, a complex and controversial figure. But above all, a man who left a lasting mark on this island.
9 years on, he is remembered not just for where he came from, but for what he helped build.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. 💚🇮🇪

@NBourhill @definitivegazer @allanukscotland IScotland has a very shallow taxpayer pool, we could not sustain pensions at their current rate. Scotland runs a deficit of £26billion a year, we are not a rich country.
England would be £26b a year better off for a start. 🙄
English

@bm24601 @definitivegazer @allanukscotland I know that there is not a pot. As I payed for the people that retired before myself. Residents in Scotland that have payed into the present scheme at Westminster (that would be subject to negotiation). Scotland is a very wealth Country. How would England manage without 🏴 & 🏴

Scots, remember at the referendum, they told us the oil was nearly finished, they just lied, so if they lied about oil, what else ?

@CMochan How about we pass a law to only allow parties registered in Scotland to stand for election?

This seems like a good idea and one we should consider in Scotland

English

@CMochan @MaureenFairgri1 Totally agree. This bill would kill every English party in Holyrood. Get it down as soon as possible
English

@Lynnmackenzie16 @CMochan Oh but Swinney & Krankie would be okay?
Suppose Krankie’s “Sorry I can’t recall that” shit gets her a bye then?
