The pay review body’s 3.5% pay ‘uplift’ is hugely disappointing for SAS and Consultants whose value and pay have been eroded for years. Senior doctors are standing together to push this Government to commit to improvements.
On the 11 May we will open ballots for Industrial Action in England for both SAS and Consultants.

A 3.5% pay uplift is a real terms pay cut for consultants in England. The role of consultant should be fully valued, including pay, hours worked and its complexity. We need to stand together to demand a better deal.

The 3.5% pay ‘uplift’ shows the Government doesn't value SAS doctors. We're being taken for granted. We want to ensure SAS doctors are properly valued which means fair pay, true career progression, and proper recognition.

A 3.5% pay award means another real terms pay cut for doctors in England.
With inflation already higher, this fails to address historic pay erosion and sends a clear message about how doctors are valued.
