Benton County, Tn lost one of its last links to WWII with today’s death of 98 Year Old Ralph Rogers. He was a POW & now only 2 Veterans remain in the county who served in WWll. TY Mr. Rogers for your service and sacrifice to our county, state & nation. May you always RIP.

A Tower that broadcast signals for decades of Radio Station WFWL-AM 1220 in Camden, Tn came down last week. Constructed in 1956 the tower had been inoperable in recent years as WFWL left the airwaves on December 1, 2021.

Camden/Benton County lost a vital citizen of the community today with the death of local radio personality Ron Lane. He was a fixture of the WFWL and WRJB Airwaves for over sixty years and was known as “The Voice of the Magic Valley.”

Visited the site near Camden where a plane crash on 3/5/63 killed Patsy Cline; Cowboy Copas; Hawkshaw Hawkins & Randy Hughes. Today is the 60th anniversary of the tragedy. David Markham was one of the first persons to find the crash. He was doing media interviews today.

Saddened to learn of the death of Alicia AllIain, wife of Actor John Schnieder. She and John came to Camden many times in 2021 with Entertainment Events. They also appeared that year at a @PBR Event in neighboring Paris, Tn. Prayers are extended to her family.

Congratulations to Josh Boyd of The Camden,Tn Police Dept on being promoted to Sgt today.He’s been employed at CPD for 9 Yrs. Boyd graduated from Camden Central HS in 2005 & holds a Degree in Education from @BethelUniv in McKenzie. He’s a member of the Benton County Sports HOF

City of Camden,Tn Water Department Superintendent John Beasley explained today why a “Boil Water Advisory” was issued to city water customers. Later in the day water employees distributed bottled water to city residents.

Apex Bank salutes Big Sandy Branch Manager Jerold Johnson today as he retires with 50 years of Service to the Bank.He started his career in 1972 at the Camden Office then went to the Big Sandy Branch in 1980 where he’s been ever since. Apex is formerly known as Bank of Camden.

Sorry to learn of the death of longtime Huntingdon, Tn Mayor Dale Kelley. Until recently he also served as Athletic Director of Bethel University in McKenzie. Kelley was also a highly respected NCCA Basketball Referee in the 1970’s and 1980’s. He will be missed.

An honor to attend a Professional Development Session today for @bentoncoschools Personnel led by Renowned TV Science Host and Emmy Winner @SteveSpangler. He makes Science Fun and many attendees agreed it was “Best Day Ever.” He’ll always be welcome in Camden, Tn.

A new pumper truck for Camden, Tn FD arrived Thurs afternoon. City Officials started the process over 2 yrs ago to obtain the new truck. After being fitted with necessary fire fighting equipment the next few days the truck will be placed into service with other FD Units
