@anachronistical @deanwball I didn’t mean to presume organic intelligence is your definition, sorry if it came across as such. But could you clarify about what and why you consider there to be a “more natural form of intelligence by definition”?

@boasgsv @deanwball That was not my definition of intelligence. It is the famous definition by the person who coined the term "artificial intelligence." I said nothing about "organic" intelligence. That's your word.

@anachronistical @deanwball I can agree with your definition of intelligence, I am just pointing out that there is hardly a consensus on how to define it. With regards to there existing a more natural form, could you formulate why you consider that to be organic intelligence “by definition”?

@boasgsv @deanwball I don't understand the problem. A more natural form does exist. That's true by definition. It is not self-serving to call things what they are. And intelligence is not hard to define. "Intelligence is the computational part of the ability to achieve goals in the world."

@anachronistical @deanwball It might not imply that it is fake, but it does imply that a more natural form exists. Don’t you find the claim that organic intelligence is more natural than some other form of intelligence is a bit self-serving? (disclaimer: intelligence is hard to define in this discussion)

@deanwball "Artificial" doesn't mean "fake." Machines are artificial. Artificial intelligence is still intelligence. Do we need to stop calling artificial sweeteners "artificial" because they are actually sweet?

@HTKonX @deanwball While I agree that is one of the main connotations of the word, it is not the only thing it implies. It also implies a disregard for this particular form of intelligence, specially for people outside the field, which imho mischaracterizes the phenomenon
