FYI: the smell of smoke around Denver this morning is from the 10-acre Bear Creek Fire in Douglas County. I’d expect the faint smoke smell to stick around most of today. Probably a stronger smell in south metro. #COwx

@FreresJacque @dollarsanddata Super low interest rates and easy money made a lot of that possible. I'm an older Gen X and have done very well with housing but I'm not naive enough to think I wasn't extremely lucky from a timing perspective.

@dollarsanddata I’m Gen X. Our first house was a 2/1, and you could hear gunfire in the distance. That was four houses ago, each progressively nicer. People need to work their way up or just shut up. Now get off my lawn…

@dollarsanddata Things are a complete mess, climate change, massive national debt, endless wars, healthcare and education and housing are becoming completely unaffordable, etc, etc, all while we've had Boomer presidents for 30 of the last 34 years. So yeah, they get a lot of blame.

The data suggests Boomers had it easier than Gen Z. I'm not debating that. But the question of how hard the backlash against Boomers will be seems to just be getting started.

For far too long, illegal alien fraudsters and criminals have been allowed to scam Americans out of their hard-earned tax dollars. That stops now. Colin McDonald will be a key asset to the DOJ and the President's War on Fraud. nypost.com/2026/03/24/us-…

@SamanthaTaghoy Chocolate eggs and the bunnies that lay them are derived from pagan celebrations of the spring equinox. The fact that Christians appropriated them to thank children for sitting through hours of services is irrelevant. (p.s. "Christmas" trees also have pagan roots.)

Dear Cadbury, “From Cadbury this season.” What season? Go on, say it. It’s EASTER. You are selling EASTER eggs for the EASTER SEASON. How dare you profit off a Christian holiday while erasing its Christian origins. They are Easter eggs. It is Easter. Shame on you.

It does not speak well of us as a nation that so many of us have gotten used to how bonkers this is. It also reeks of status envy and insecurity, which you'd think wouldn't really afflict the most powerful man in the world, but he seems acutely aware that he's not very smart.

Trump: I know a lot of stupid people that went to a good college. My uncle was the longest serving professor at MIT. That means I have much better blood. But I went to the hardest college of all to get into, the Wharton school of finance, that means I'm real smart.

@pokerheadrush You're right, nobody leads with a deuce there, his bet screams of a 4 trying to just realize their equity immediately if nobody else has anything.

In these spots, a lot of players in the big blind think they have a range advantage because they “have all the twos.” But in reality, if they are tricky or aggressive, they would often check a two here and let someone else bet. So when they lead, they actually don’t have trips as often as they think. Their range is usually a lot of random backdoor draws, weak fours, or just air. This is a great spot to apply pressure. I decided to check-raise big to about $50. Then...

Here’s another hand from that same $1/$3 no-rake game. I was in the small blind with 6♦ 8♦ and had about $300. A few players limped, including under the gun plus one, under the gun plus two, and the cutoff. I decided to limp as well and the big blind, who had been pretty loose and had a big stack, checked. Board: 2♣ 2♦ 4♠ I checked and the big blind led $10. Everyone else folded and it was on me. What now?

Instead of taking Live Nation-Ticketmaster to trial, Trump just let them off the hook. The federal government had been building a case for years, and could have broken up the Live Nation-Ticketmaster monopoly. But Trump just let them settle out of court.

@pokerheadrush If his starting range is about GTO, only the stuff circled in green are hands that are better than yours that might fold. Maybe the $1100s are different but like I said, people up in BH are loathe to fold an ace when they hit on the river even with the 4 liner for the straight.

@pokerheadrush I don't really like it. I suspect you just had the best hand and your opponent had an 88/99 type hand. People who spike an ace on the river there are never folding to a half pot bet. I just don't see many hands better than yours folding.

What do you think? Here’s another hand from the MSPT $1,110 in Black Hawk. I had 10♦ 7♣ in the big blind with about 25 big blinds. It folded to the cutoff, who had me slightly covered, and he raised to 2 big blinds. I called. Board: Q♣ 10♣ 6♥ I checked and my opponent bet 1.5 big blinds into about 5.5. I decided to call. The price was small, I had second pair, and a lot of live players don’t double or triple barrel enough in these spots. Turn: J♣ I checked and my opponent checked back. And...

@Hobbikats @Ticketmaster Yeah, their cluster this morning was what prompted this. The other day i was 1490 in queue for their first presale, I get in and there aren't even any singles available. But plenty on stubhub!

Something needs to happen with @Ticketmaster and their monopoly. Such a shit show. Presales end up being BS yet thousands of tickets are available on resellers immediately. Today they can't even keep their site from crashing. Well done.

@pokerheadrush I'm calling one that flop. Guys continuation bet too much up there so the button can be calling really widely. JT98 may all be good turn cards for you.

🤔Here’s another interesting spot from the MSPT $1,110 in Black Hawk. This one is about discipline in multi-way pots, especially early in tournaments. I had J♥ 10♦ in the big blind with about 50 big blinds. The hijack raised to 3 big blinds from around a 40 big blind stack, the button called, and I decided to call as well. I had just gotten to the table and didn’t know either player very well yet. Flop: Js-7h-3d I checked. The hijack continuation bet 5 big blinds into about 10.5 and the button called. Let me hear your thoughts. I appreciate everyone chiming in on these hands!!!

@pokerheadrush I'm definitely more cautious, but if I'm playing a $1k+ I'm only buying in once. I'll keep this in mind in the $400 prelims & seniors up there where I'm usually willing to fire a second bullet. How often is A8-AJ/A6/A3 willing to stack off there in your estimation?

I decided to move all in. Before the results, the big point here is that if you’re in a re-entry tournament, people are going to stack off with some pretty ridiculous hands. You want to build a big stack early so you can apply pressure later. That means sometimes going for thinner value than you might normally feel comfortable with. If someone is playing way too many hands and calling too often, this is exactly the type of spot where you should be fast-playing top pair, top kicker. If you’re not willing to go for it here, when are you? Your opponent will call with a lot of worse aces like A8, A9, AT, AJ, or AQ. Sometimes you’ll even get calls from random pairs or draws that don’t make much sense. In this hand, my opponent ended up calling with A♦ 4♣ and I lost the pot. But that doesn’t mean the play is bad. You can’t let one result stop you from going for value in spots like this. Over time, this kind of aggression is what helps you build stacks and put yourself in position to win tournaments instead of just min-cashing. Curious what you guys think. Are you comfortable stacking off here early, or do you tend to play more cautiously in these spots?

Here’s another hand from the MSPT $1,110 in Black Hawk. This one is a good example of going for thin value early in a tournament to try to build a stack. It was folded to me in the cutoff and I raised to 3 big blinds with A♠ K♥ from about a 100 big blind stack. The button was a gentleman in his 40s who was playing around 50–55% of hands. He was constantly cold-calling and seeing way too many flops and turns. He called on the button, the small blind folded, and the big blind called. Board: A♥ 2♣ 4♦ It checked to me and I decided to check. Against a player like this, I don’t mind mixing in some checks because they tend to stab a lot. The button bet 4 big blinds into about 10.5 and the big blind folded. What to do? Suggestions on how you would proceed.
