A week after registration for the 2024 chess vacation camp of Liberia Chess Federation was announced, I received call from an unknown number seeking to enroll participants as young as 5 years old. Having work with kids that young and knowing how troublesome they can be, I was hesitant, but decided to give them a try. A week later, the vacation camp commenced. Joining us were Anointed Friday (5yrs) and Joseph Philips (6yrs). Fortunately, we weren’t short of trainers; which enabled me to concentrate more on them and their peers (as they are too young to keep pace with the bigger kids). 👇 @thegiftofchess

2025, what a year! Finished 2nd at the Zone 4.2 West African Championship, against the odds and qualified for the first ever African Super Zonals. Went on to win the Super Zonals and qualified for the FIDE Grand Swiss. Won my first-ever individual gold medal at the National Sports Festival🥇. Also won the whole event with my team, Oyo state! Traveled to Uzbekistan to compete against 11 of the world’s best grandmasters at the FIDE Grand Swiss. Participated and won my first Olojo chess festival in Ife, Osun state, got a picture next to the Ooni of Ife! Ended with a major highlight by becoming National Chess Champion 2025 🏆. Also crossing 2300 rating in classical chess! Grateful for the journey. Let’s do more in 2026!

We concluded the 2024 Chess-in-Education Summer/Vacation Camp with a mini chess tournament. The vacation camp, which lasted two (2) months (July & August), was held at the Office of the Liberia Chess Federation. During the period, kids didn't only learn the game of chess, but how it relates to life as a whole. Afterwards, participants were gifted @thegiftofchess boards with the instruction; Each One, Teach One! They were encouraged to teach friends, family members, etc., the game of chess and not forget what they have learned over the past months. #chessineducation @thegiftofchess

I actually really believe in what chess can do I believe so much that the mind can do anything I remember when my friend taught me how to play chess in senior secondary school, getting my mind to work in that way was intriguing to me. It has been my favorite game since then

"We first change society by changing the way the think." The "Chess in Education " program finally kicks-off at the Isaac A. David Memorial School, Located ELWA Junction. Through my capacity as Ambassador of @thegiftofchess , I gifted the school five (5) Chess sets to be used for learning and active playing. @FIDE_chess @thegiftofchess

We visited the LOSC Christian School, which has four (4) campuses across Montserrado, Liberia, with the purpose of equipping the future generation with @thegiftofchess . @FIDE_chess @thegiftofchess

We paid a visit at the Chess Club at the American International School of Monrovia (AISM) located in Congo Town, a suburb of Monrovia, with the purpose of distributing some boards on behalf of @thegiftofchess . The kids were so excited and I even played a game with one of them (the best) and agreed to help with their Chess progress. With "Chess in Education ", it is more than just a game but a tool for sound decision-making.
