The Board is excited to announce the final portion of the Westside Trail is complete! Board member Aretta Baldon was honored to make remarks at the ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday & celebrated connecting Southwest Atlanta with Historic Westside neighborhoods north of Hollowell.

The City of Atlanta held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the Cooper Street Development, the fourth project in the City’s Rapid Housing Initiative. Atlanta Board of Education Member Brooks proudly delivered remarks on behalf of the Board to commemorate this milestone.

Finally, the Board was also honored to recognize Principal David White who is retiring after an impressive decade leading Burgess-Peterson Academy ES!

The Board recognized Carver Girls track team for their GHSA 2-A Girls Track & Field State Championship, Drew Charter boys soccer team as the 2025 GHSA 2A Soccer State Champions, & the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School which was named the 2025 Georgia Charter School of the Year!

At Monday’s board meeting ABOE presented this year’s Honorary Diplomas to Larry Platt, Booker T. Washington High School Graduate Class of 1965, Blanche Forts, Frederick Douglass High School, and Bryce Carl Brooks, Maynard H. Jackson High School Graduate Class of 2024!
