@boglenn @FriedgeHNIC The NHL's version of this review rule prevents a "free for all" such as in the NFL. This is to prevent a player purposefully committing a penalty (injuring another player) in a space and time where there are no consequences.

@spittinchiclets The offsides call is what it is. Obviously it was not ruled a penalty shot on the ice. Not sure if that is reviewable after the fact.

@ScoutingTheRefs Riddle me this. Call on the ice was not a penalty shot. Is that reviewable? Obviously refs let play continue indicating would be a minor.

@TrippTracy @ryanwhitney6 Nobody wants him on the siren. Boos would be deafening. Canes advance, he wears his old Pens jersey in a dunking booth out front for all second round home games against Pitt. $50 per ball, proceeds to Canes Foundation.

@NHLMedia @NHL Meh. NHL coaches with 1 season plus should vote for coach awards. NHL players with 100 games plus should vote for player awards. NHL media should vote for homecoming court.

@hurricanesmill @TuckerBlanc Substantiate this statement . . . Never been an issue with Dundon to spend on players or making the on ice product better. He has refused to spend sentimentally or on legacy’s that take away from a better and more competitive team. The cheap narrative that media created.

@TuckerBlanc Someone just brought this up, and unfortunately, it makes sense. We all know Dundon is cheap, cheap, cheap. He very easily could be the one holding us back.

@travisyost Easy to solve. Parties sign NDA at onset of any discussions involving players with NMC or NTC.

GMs frustrated their players won’t waive their no-trade clauses, I have some advice for you. It’s just one piece of advice really. It’s not complicated. In fact I bet you can guess!

@wyshynski Easy fix. NDAs required for teams and player for any negotiation of a player with NMC or NTC must be signed before any team to team talks.

And as I mentioned yesterday: There were no fewer than four trades that were reported before the player had waived for them. Two of them (Myers to DET and Parayko to BUF) ended up not happening at all.
Ray Ferraro@rayferraro21

Parayko uses his negotiated no trade and people kick a fuss up. The real issue as I see it was why was the trade public in the 1st place until signed off? Who leaks this? Not player, not agent .. no benefit. Cheesy of teams to back door pressure the player that they gave no trade to. If that's where the info came from

@TheWarningTake Hurricanes will not be profitable if they are not competitive and winning. Huge amount of revenue from dependent on people in seats. Market will not support a loser.

Am I the only one that thinks...the size of rinks can no longer contain the speed and skill on the ice? And I'm not talking about..the extra 3 feet (though it would help) I'm saying these guys are so big, so fast, so good...especially at this level - that the rinks limit their skill. I would love to see this group fly on the old school big Olympic ice.

NC locked down by Durham Bulls rule forever. Changing now. Charlotte, meh. Raleigh, Yeah. Florida has spring training locked. Plus summer weather too sporadic, has to be a closable dome. Tennessee is legitimate in just last 10-15 years for growth and demographics. Circling other states is like saying “why isn’t there MLB in ND, SD, WY, MT and ID”.

Debate is good. But your premise is wrong. Only 2 teams in Canada truly can afford to ‘net up’ salaries for taxes. Another 2 would try on occasion but would struggle financially without deep playoff runs. Other 3 would go broke if they tried and would never be competitive again. I’d also want to look at revenue share of all player endorsement money. Players can make much more $$$ in Toronto than Dallas off endorsement deals.

This may be the fair value given current t&c’s involved, GMs will determine the market. Past value, value under other conditions is not relevant. Maximum / Equivalent value based on his future worth as a player in trade for future assets is no longer attainable. Whatever happens now, is the fair market barring shenanigans.

@Archaeologuy If they intend to let him walk I could see them working a deal with another team for two options. Draft pick for early negotiating rights or a bigger deal that would involve a sign and trade to get 8 years. He will not be leaving for nothing but you will not get fair value

Many GMs pay for past performance (black hawks), ‘marquee’ names (rangers) and ‘paper rosters” (predators). Many GMs risk it all for a Cup now or then (penguins), saving their jobs to a committee (bruins) and being meh (krachen). Canes have to be highly competitive and in the lottery to win in playoffs to be profitable. So far, under this ownership . . . Spending to cap but judiciously, valuing prospects and understanding that sentiment doesn’t win.

@BizNasty2point0 Biz you just got bullied into saying these guys are #1 defenseman!! Come on bro. Their skillset and ability falls into the #2 category. Which are incredibly valuable players btw. If by chance these gents were #1’s then there cap hits would say so. Checkmate!

I mean if Slavin gets a number 1 D tag Tanev’s numbers aren’t that far off so I would say he’s also a number 1. He’s playing top lines all night and strong on the PK and eats pucks. He ain’t running your PP but who gives a fuck right. Let em rest 😂😂😂

That was an error. You’re right. Slavin is 100% a number one. I can eat that. Probably top defensive defensemen in the world right now. Sometimes people factor in a true number 1 being someone who plays PP & also provides offense along with shut down capabilities. But he does way more than enough shutting guys down to get the number 1 tag. I can eat that.
Hasbullacane@HasbullaCane

Paul Bissonnette [@BizNasty2point0] just said on @thesheethockey that the Carolina Hurricanes do not have a number 1 defenseman. 🤯
