if you love david lynch but have not yet read his memoir ‘Room to Dream’ you are doing yourself an incredible disservice. it’s a truly wonderful read

A man claimed a PaIestinian-owned restaurant, Oasis in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York refused to serve him for wearing a Star of David. But it later surfaced that he never even entered the restaurant. He has since deleted the post.

@sxnsof seems like they're picking gosling over people based on how many good movies he's been a part of. which makes sense for some the later ones like psh

Can you midwits stop acting like you know David lynch’s thought processes and intentions when it’s clear you don’t even understand his art beyond surface level. He’s known for not wanting to explain his art, leaving it up for interpretation. Stop acting like you know everything

@notlavajuice @franzsherbert i don’t think anything in Lynch’s films is obvious and personally I don’t agree with your interpretation. I think the lady in the radiator represents his ideation to commit infanticide, not suicide. the ending is a warm embrace to reassure him he did the ‘right thing’

Sorry for more Lynch discourse but this is absolutely true for Lynch's movies not just Lynch himself. There's a concept of them that's become prominent on here as like Love Wins hopecore, sure they're dark but they love their characters and are really uplifting at heart etc.

@franzsherbert people’s interpretation of the animatronic robin is kinda funny tho cos originally it was supposed to be a real robin but the trained robin they brought in wasn’t performing haha. so they had to build a robin to get the shot. just one of those happy accidents

@bombarse There's also the obvious animatronic robin issue though, plus even though the bug it's eating is thematically "positive," it's still sort of gross and disquieting. BV is the only Lynch I think is a little simplistic and pat though, so maybe I'm reaching

@franzsherbert with blue velvet it’s interesting. jeffrey’s perception of the world is now forever tainted after seeing the darkness that lies beneath, and the darkness will always be there. but on the other hand, he does save the day and get the girl, and the robin is a sweet touch

@franzsherbert eraserhead is definitely equivocal, it’s less so a “happy ending” and more so a brief moment of beautiful relief / levity, that we can only imagine will be brutally stripped away from him moments after the film ends

@franzsherbert wild at heart has a nice ending though, as does blue velvet and even eraserhead to some extent. it’s easy to see why people would hold that position when it comes to some of his films

Fire Walk With Me is a tremendously empathetic and sad movie and also a very brutal and almost cynical one. Wild at Heart, which has been thoroughly quirkified, is downright nasty and unpleasant. None of this is to denigrate Lynch btw he's one of my favorite artists period

@CianHooperWales Bellamy is an ex Liverpool player, could have just gave a throwaway answer. I don’t understand why managers constantly see the press as an opposition. It’s not just him tbf.
