REVIEW: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight perfectly blends the traditional LEGO Game formula and elevates it to a modern standard, that doesn’t jeopardize the core identity of these titles. This game is a true triumph and love letter to not just Batman, but LEGO Games overall The Combat, is deep, engaging and rewards creativity. As you progress the narrative, you will be able to unlock multiple focus bars which allows you to chain takedowns, or combine Gadget Focus Abilities. The variety in the Combat is incredible. This is not LEGO Arkham, this is LEGO Batman. Gotham City is dense, alive and incredibly scaled. You will truly feel the size when you have to traverse from Tricorner to North Island. Side Content is displayed in a way that will not make you feel tired or overwhelmed. There are also stores you can enter and many, many collectibles and challenges to complete. The Crimes are varied and change depending on the Island you are currently on. In Tricorner you can get a reckless driver to chase down and stop. But, in the later islands there will be criminals who recently robbed a bank and it’s up to you to chase the getaway van down with missiles, and defeat the bad guys. (Side note, getting this alert while gliding just to dive bomb into the ground to call in the Batmobile to then chase the vehicle is insanely cool and will never get old) The vehicle handling is the best a LEGO Game has ever had, and all vehicles handle differently. Did we mention you can do donuts in this game? The Batcave is completely customizable, it is your very own garage and living space. Be creative! We can’t wait to see how different everyone’s caves look. The story is paced excellently, broken up into chapters with well designed missions that keep you entertained throughout the roughly 12-15 hour story. The Seven Characters approach worked very well in this game’s favor. Everyone feels unique but familiar at once. The Skill Brick Tree enhances all seven characters at once while the Wayne Tech Caches enhances each character’s gadgets individually. The gadget upgrades incredibly improves some characters like Batman and Nightwing, while others’ upgrades are not as exciting. Overall, Legacy of the Dark Knight is an incredible game and one we hope gets extensive attention from TT Games so the team can listen to feedback! This game, is an amazing accomplishment 9/10 🦇
