@YYCguy7 I’ve waited my life as a hockey fan for a player like him. Max deal 8 years not a problem if that’s what he wants. When a D is this good the value they bring to the team is unmeasurable
@CanucksArmy Brave risking tampering to make it clear that the Hughes are all welcome in Vancouver. Not saying it would happen but they made it clear they would do what it takes to make it happen if it was possible
“He (Quinn Hughes) has said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here.” - Jim Rutherford

The Canucks gave Marcus Pettersson the same contract they were willing to offer Zadorov, with the $500K difference accounting for the cap increase. If you were on board with that deal for Zadorov, you should have no issue with this one—Pettersson is the better defenseman.
@CanuckSkate Agreed. I loved zadorov and I think he would have been an amazing 5th d at 4.5 to 5.5 because of some of his unique skill sets but I don’t think he could carry a second pair
Nikita Zadorov was cool but there is absolutely zero doubt that you want Marcus Pettersson running your second pair at 6x$5.5M rather than Zadorov at 6x$5M
@GarlandRyzen@patersonjeff@garymasonglobe You would think but apparently this is has been on and off since Travis green with moments of improvement, followed by resentment and then blow ups time and time again. I’m assuming it’s on both of them or he wouldn’t have g them both out to dry like that
@RJHenderson7@patersonjeff@garymasonglobe Well said. Funny thing is some are still saying this isn’t a thing and the media is making something out of nothing. My only guess is they don’t know how to read?!
@vancanvcks Team go boom.
There are real quotes not clipped but basically say……Can’t win with this core, Petey and miller feud cause of inconsistency, need to come up with a new plan.
@QuadrelliD love it. 5.5m for a second pair winger who shows up in the playoffs? (plus Tocc will take him to the next level i think.... and Petey finally has a skilled winger)
@QuadrelliD This is the only one that makes me nervous. That said this organization has got more of most of the players in the organization then not so this group has earned my trust. Certain players excel under this coaching staff so if they properly recognized the player we are ok. If not.
@CanucksHouse@QuadrelliD Happy for him. Like the guy. If he could play the role of a forth d that’s a different story. Can’t be spending 5 mill on 3rd pair d or forth line wing unless we have more entry level contracts up the line up. We have good contracts but only two bargain deals in Hughes and demko
@Sportsnet@FriedgeHNIC@BET99ON Loved him in Vancouver in the playoffs. That said that’s a lot of money for a third pair guy even with his unique skill set. Toronto fans will appreciate what he can bring specially in the playoffs if you remove the contract
@CLDanielle@frank_seravalli@DailyFaceoff No kidding very happy they had their coffee and used some common sense and stayed away from the contracts going around. Definitely a better free agency to stay out of
@CityNewsVAN Someone had to many to drink. Less fines for fleeing the scene vs being caught drinking and crashing. Not condoning at all just a very likely explanation
