[Part 7] The Platoon Leader role BTS V took on at boot camp: That thing people say you’ll regret doing in the military 👤V-hyungnim was our 1st platoon’s platoon leader. You can basically think of a platoon leader as the leader of the entire platoon. Since they’re the leader of the platoon, they have to be able to keep track of all the personnel in our barracks units 1, 2, and 3 and identify every single person in the platoon. Honestly, they say one of the roles you shouldn't take on in the military camp is the platoon leader position which V hyung did because compared to ordinary soldiers, there’s so much more work to do. Seriously! They have to comfort and take care of the other soldiers, have to lead us along, and basically become a leader. Every morning, since we enlisted during the height of winter season, outside was seriously… wow, maybe minus 10 degrees or something. It was so cold in the mornings. So every morning, V hyungnim would turn around sharply at the front: 🐯Report! 👤Report! Salute! *V hyung accepts the salute* 👤1st Platoon, 3rd Squad, reporting morning roll call. Total personnel 8, present personnel 8. Morning roll call preparation complete! 🐯At ease! Then if he said ‘At ease,’ I’d also snap into the at-ease position, and every morning we’d check attendance like that. V-hyung was really kind. Really kind and also a very positive person. So if the guys perhaps got into any trouble, he would always step in, try to solve by explaining like, "If you do something like so and so, there will be a problem." and guided us in a good direction. He was a genuinely good person. [Part 6] Taehyung's military colleague is back with another story! Story of going to Christmas service with V-hyung: Even though only his eyes were visible, everybody recognised him! 👤As seen on youtube, you know there was the story of going to the church and mordekaiser? it's probably after that, I suggested to V-hyungnim to go to church again together, because it was Christmas time and if you go to church on December 25th, they give out hamburgers and also do a musical performance. It's one of the most fun things to experience in military camp because they also dance like this. This kind of things happen at the Nonsan Army Training Camp. So I was like, "they're saying there is a big musical there, how about going together with me?" and so we ended up going together. V-hyungnim always had everything covered up, wearing a mask and pulling his hat all the way down low whenever he went around. But what's fascinating is, people still recognized him. He was disguised with just the military cap on, and then the mask too, so really only his eyes were visible but people recognized him anyway. It was so amazing to me. I remember thinking, ‘Ah, a celebrity really is a celebrity.’ You could exactly see that with him. So after it ended, we were about to leave but the people there started to wave, "Woah! Taehyungie hyung!". They were like, "Please say hello to us!" He was walking out with his head down, but at the very end he suddenly waved with his back to them. [Part 4] Ended up eating meals together with BTS V hyungnim for 6 weeks: In the military, physical build really is king 👤Since people heard that BTS had come, everyone was too overzealous. People’s attention is just too focused on him. So whenever we went to eat, every time people would say, “Please shake hands!” It’s like, he even came to the military, but still, in a dining hall with hundreds, about 500 guys sitting, that’s still happening. I thought, “Wow, he must be so tired.” It just so happened we ended up eating together. I have a big build, and my face doesn’t look that kind, plus I shaved my head, so I looked a bit tough. So we ate together, and from then on, I was sitting on Taehyungie hyung's side and people asking V hyungnim for handshakes started decreasing. It was quite amusing to see. [Part 3] The moment I first spoke to BTS V hyungnim: Wherever he event, everyone's eyes were always on him 👤There was this moment where I spoke to him first, Everyone had this feeling of "woah! this is so fascinating!" That time all of us went to eat dinner, we had to eat at the cafeteria and he came and sat right beside me somehow. While eating, I thought, ‘Should I at least say something?’ so I greeted him. And he responded kindly. From a celebrity’s perspective, living military life together with everyone else is such an unfamiliar environment, right? So I asked him things like, ‘How’s military life so far? It had been only about two days, how is it?’ And he said, ‘It feels like I came to a zoo. I feel like I’ve become some kind of zoo animal.’ So I replied, ‘I can imagine that.’ We were having some small talk like that, and then suddenly he asked me, ‘What trainee number are you?’ At the time, V hyungnim was Trainee No. 1. I was No. 23. [Part 2] How I met BTS V hyungnim at the training camp: Turns out we were in the same platoon. 👤I enlisted on December 11th, and at that time, news spread that two BTS members were enlisting. It was all over the news, and there were tons of people. I went in thinking, “How would we even meet among so many people?” After saying goodbye to my parents, everyone moved out to the field, and it was time to sit on the allocated seats. I sat down, and there was one empty seat in front of me. I wondered why it was empty, and then two people walked in, almost like under a spotlight. I thought, “Ah, That must be BTS V hyungnim.” Then, they were dividing us into squads. I thought, “Could we end up in the same platoon?” And we actually did. We ended up in the same first platoon. V hyungnim was in the first platoon, first unit, and I was in the first platoon, third unit. [Part 1] A bodybuilder who served alongside Taehyung in the military shared how he met and became friends with Taehyung in 4 parts story. He was talking about going to the church and so on and since I was part of the group that was right beside him during those times. So I thought I can share some interesting stories and some heartwarming stories about V hyungnim and good things about him via videos. It’s been a little over a year since I got discharged from the military, but I thought maybe now would be a fun time to start talking about these training camp stories. To share one more heartwarming thing about V hyungnim, there was even a KakaoTalk chat where he invited us into it and said things like, “You guys worked hard,” and even sent us Korean beef as a gift. In the Military he was on his first night guard duty and was asked for password (signal to identify friend from foe) and because the previous guard didn’t provide him with the intel he just made up his own password.
