Analysis⤵️ Caris Levert and the Pistons head to Orlando after extending the series in game 5, this is still an elimination game for them down 3-2 in the series. Early in this series, Levert was seeing low minutes off the bench with the Pistons running a very deep rotation. Holland, Huerter, and Jenkins getting alot of run which left Levert as more of an odd man out. However in these last 2 games we've seen Caris get up to 25 minutes in each despite shooing just 25% on FG's. It's clear Bickerstaff was wanting to have him out there for nice playing time off the bench, it gives DET another guy who can create his own shot. He Has made a positive impact on the court in this series despite the counting stats not being great yet, +8.8 NET rating this series is 2nd best on the team (+19.4 Net rating last 2 games). All the pressure and attention is on Cade, I believe it can benefit the Pistons to have another handler/creator out there. Last game Ausar Thompson was subbed for Levert within 1 minute of the 3rd qtr. In game 4 he also played more 4th qtr minutes than Duncan Robinson. In these last 2 games Caris was a +5 and +11 in his time on the court while Ausar has been a combined -18 and Duncan -16 in those 2 games. Holland is no longer in the rotation and both Tobias and Huerter are questionable to play tonight. There are alot of avenues for Caris to see good minutes off the bench, which also includes a guy like Ausar who is very foul prone. This is also a good matchup for a secondary shot creator. ORL allows 2nd most pull-ups this season which is where 34.2% of his volume comes from. I would not be shocked to see the Magic start to double Cade more forcing the ball out of his hands after 45 pts last game, this can open up even more Levert USG. On the season with Cade in and seeing 18-25 minutes, Levert is over this line in 21/34 games averaging 7.5 ppg. I believe the minutes will be there again here as he is a trusted veteran in a road environment facing elimination and he's also not a net negative on defense like Duncan. Due for positive shooting regression too after 2 straight 25% shooting games. He has a bunch of playoff experience, so I like for him to get back on track and provide a little spark of the DET bench tonight. Widely available on many DFS sites and sportsbooks.
