What would you like to see in Public Higher Education Reform?
Governor Jeff Landry@LAGovJeffLandry

Through Executive Order JML 25-083 establishing the Governor’s Task Force on Public Higher Education Reform—chaired by State Superintendent @cadebrumley —the state is charting a bold path to protect academic quality, expand choice, and ensure Louisiana’s institutions answer to our state, not distant bureaucracies.  This leadership is strengthening trust in our schools, empowering families, and securing a future where education reflects Louisiana values and priorities.

The Louisiana Legislature voted to put teacher pay BACK on the ballot next April, but more as a stand-alone amendment than what we saw in March. If it passes, teachers and support staff will actually get a slight raise - $2k to $2,250 and $1k to $1,125. #lalege

Rep Danny McCormick asked Louisiana House Ways/Means to repeal film tax credit and reduce personal income tax rate by .25%. Tax cut loss would have cost much more than revenue gain. $310M fiscal note loss. Committee voted 2-10 against HB341 #lalege

To achieve those teacher stipends, changes will be made to how retirement debt is paid next year and also there's a cut to the high dosage school tutoring program. No cuts to the LA GATOR private school voucher program however. #lalege

The Louisiana House Appropriations Committee says they have found a way to fund the $2,000/$1,000 stipends for teachers and support staff, but the money seem to be based on the assumption that savings will be achieved in @LADeptHealth, state hiring freeze. #lalege
