Excited that the once obscure road that leads to my village in Siane LLG, Chuave District, now has been upgraded. These roads connect isolated communities to markets, enabling farmers to sell crops and access goods, which boosts local economies and reduces poverty.

Oct 1, 1944. Salamaua, New Guinea: Aboard a landing craft after a long jungle patrol, men of the 1st New Guinea Battalion return to Lae. This battalion was then deployed into action on Bougainville and on to New Britain. They inflicted 435 enemy casualties, at the cost of 15 KIA.

#PNG is a tough country to be a bush pilot. Add in macro-shocks of fuel constraints, inflation + FX and it's a wonder how some mission planes continue to operate in our most remote areas. This is a MAF Kodiak 100 taking off from Kompiam Rural Airstrip, Enga. Video by Peter Maru.

In Lakolam village, Wabag, Enga the Highlands Highway that leads to the Giant Porgera Gold Mine is completely cutoff. The Works Department and Barrick Gold Ltd are working to fix the road. Porgera, Lagaip, and Kandep districts are cut off due to this landslide.
