I just wanna say, the courtship culture of Orthodoxy in America feels more toxic than any other religious or social group in the world. Beyond the growing gender gap with the extremely picky hypergamy of young women in the Church here, and the strong ethnic preferences among cradle Orthodox young women, even beyond just the ever worsening economic situation in the west. The most toxic is the rhetoric we so often hear that young men have to become literal Saints and have the spiritual strength of Great Schema Monk to be worthy of marriage. We always hear, you're too passionate, you're lustful, you're not praying enough, you're not fasting good enough, you don't have a good enough prayer rule, you're not doing enough Spiritual readings, you're not doing enough various tasks in your Parish. Eventually, it's hard to not feel like you're never gonna be enough. I say Orthodoxy in America because this kind of pressure is not put on Orthodox men in Eastern Europe, only American Orthodox for some reason. In Eastern Europe as long as your masculine, have at least an average salary for your country's standards, and go to Church at least a few times a year, that's considered good enough over there to be worthy of marriage. Not here, here young men are told that have to have faith the size of mustard seed and be able to spiritually move mountains to be worthy of marriage. What bothers me more about this St. Paul the Apostle said in 1 Corinthians Chapter 7 that marriage is designed by God for men and women who are weak in their spiritual struggle. Yet the common rhetoric of Orthodoxy in America says the opposite, that because you're weak in your spiritual struggle you're undeserving of marriage. It's really hard for young men to not feel despair and want to give up because of this enormous pressure and extremely high standards. The national average of young men getting married by age 30 has fallen to 16%. Which means for young Orthodox men in America that average has probably fallen to around 5%, and frankly, the Church offers no real solutions to this problem other than just telling young men they're not good enough.

@MrsCMFrancis Why is it wrong for someone to feel this way? It shouldn't be up to someone to dictate what others do, but wanting their own children to look like them is certainly not ungodly.

I am sorry but “I demand my children and my children’s children look like me” is simply ungodly and un-Biblical and I will not entertain it or be friends with people who say that kind of stuff.

As a tourist, sure. Otherwise, this isn't Africa or the US. You can't last very long in a country like ours without feeling unwelcome & depressed. And especially if you touch our children or go around stabbing/robbing people, like you do at home. You wouldn't want to even attempt that.

This was post was in response to complete morons like so called trad ortho mom @RRR0BYN who don't know the mother of chud's child is currently hiding the toddler from the public because her and her son have started getting death threats from the people chud is antagonizing publicly. But hey! At least he's changing the overton window! Whatever the fuck that means to people who don't understand real world consequences.

Alright, I wasn't going to share all of this, but I am tired of seeing Orthodox people on her praise and promote the public antics of Dalton aka chudthebuilder. He's an extremely mentally ill person and you have no idea the kind of damage he is doing to himself, his family, including his toddler son, who are all getting the same death threats as him, and the damage he did to Holy Protection Orthodox Church in Clarksville, Tennessee. That Parish is currently without a Priest andon the brink of shuting down in large part due to the damage he caused there. For his talk on his streams about blacks and minorities destroying the fabric of American society spreading mistrust threats and chaos. That is exactly what he did to what was once the most high trust and close knit Parish community I ever experienced. I switched from my Antiochian Parish to Holy Protection in early 2024, right before chud became a catechumen there. I fell in love with the Parish and the community and I was convinced this was the Parish I wanted to raise my family in. It was stable, full of young families, very safe, most of the men there were either carpenters or soldiers. You couldn't imagine a more perfect Orthodox Americana Parish. Not long after chud started attending there he started projecting the same public antics you see on his stream towards the entire Parish. Several families ended up leaving, in particular two families who were Christian refugees from muslim countries he particularly threatened and harassed. Things got worse over the summer when the Parish found out he was abusing his fiance and their baby who also were catechumens at the Parish with them. I didn't just hear about it I saw it. He was constantly smoking weed around the baby and would pour bottles of water on his baby's head when he got tired of it crying. In addition, he was constantly kicking his fiance and baby out of his house every other week to hook up with college girls from Austin Peay State University. Despite knowing all of this, the Parish doubled it's efforts to try mentally and spiritually rehabilitate chud, I was part of those efforts, we tried our best to forgive him 70 times 7 and see him as a very broken and traumatized man from his past and his childhood in desparate need of Christ and His healing and peace, and all of us were slowly losing our sanity in the process, the Priest himself showed chud more grace and mercy than anyone in the Parish and was putting so much effort into helping him. By fall of that year, what was once the most close knit and high trust Parish community I had ever experienced became the most distrusting and disconnected Parish community I had ever seen, me and several others felt spiritually destroyed. By the time I had returned to my Antiochian Parish at the end of October I had forgotten how to even pray. I revisited that Parish almost a year later and saw of the people who stuck it out there saw half of the Parish had started acting like chud and half was just trying their best to ignore it. Then finally fall of last year the Parish had no choice but to ask him to leave when he went viral for his public antics and the wave of death threats started coming in and several families with small children were going to leave because they didn't feel safe around him. I tried to explain to chud the Parish is still trying to help you not turn on you but he wouldn't have it and started lashing out at me over and over over text message and then blocked me. I've prayed for him every single day since October of last year. To many of you who don't understand real world consequences, his antics are heroic, entertaining, and saving white America, to those of us who know him, his antics are disheartening and self-destructive and harming his family. You guys don't even know part of his antics are because of his insecurity knowing he isn't fully white, he's half middle eastern. Instead of encouraging his public antics pray for his healing and peace in Christ.

Just like there is Orientalism--western people commenting on and critiquing the East--there is also Occidentalism, which is eastern people commenting on and critiquing the West. Ironically, despite the vehement hatred and disgust that Occidentalist writing reveals toward the West, none of that writing is paid any attention or endorsed by leftists because in terms of values and principles, Occidentalist writing in modern terms is extremely "right wing". It critiques the West for its decadence in atheism, abortion, homosexuality, divorce, women acting like men, men acting like women, widespread sexual promiscuity etc. These are the same critiques that the "right wing" also has of the modern west. Granted, Occidentalist writing and Orientalist writing both have valuable things to say and we should take the best of both the East and the West in the designing of a society. Orientalist writing critiques the East for corruption on every level, lack of real justice system, bribery, anti-intellectualism and a lack of civic stewardship. These are also valid critiques. If the right wing could ever get over its idiotic racism, it would have an easier time endorsing those Christian values that it claims to love so much.
