@Mrs_Mazzy @MCRskullbase @mamawadey @MCCN_UK @NCAlliance_NHS Hi Marilyn, childhood leukaemia itself doesn’t usually cause brain tumours later in life. However the risk can be higher because of cranial radiation treatment used in the past. Thankfully, modern treatments try to avoid this where possible. Wishing your family good health.

@brain_op @MCRskullbase @mamawadey @MCCN_UK @NCAlliance_NHS My son in law’s sister and my cousins son both had leukaemia as children. In 2024 unbelievably both suffered a brain tumour. Is there a link to their leukaemia or is it just very bad luck. Ps I thought you and your team were amazing!!

Had a wonderful surprise after the lecture at @GJBrainResearch, Emma came under the care of @brain_op for a complex recurrent craniopharyngioma and was one of the last patients I looked after as senior resident. 5 years on she is pursuing a higher degree - Pay it forward!

It’s a real honour to be promoted to full Professor, and I’m deeply grateful to the many mentors, colleagues, and students who’ve made this possible. I feel especially fortunate, within the @TEQ_Neurosurg group, to work at the interface of surgery, neurology, and engineering – and to collaborate with brilliant teams across the @QSNeurosurgery, the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, the UCL Hawkes institute, and now our robotics spin-out, Panda Surgical. Translating technologies from lab to operating theatre has been a real team effort, and the achievement is as much theirs as it is mine.
