In ed settings,if we understood child dev & how trauma impacts pupils ability to learn,pay attention & to behave in functional ways, some of their behaviours are manifestations of emotional dynamics of frustration & needs not being met. It would put schools in a better place 🧠🌱

@gerrydiamond71 It is a necessary question! IMO there is no good reason why the understanding of early brain development, importantly including attachment, is not at the core of education for teachers, parents, pediatricians, foster parents, policymakers, etc. It needs to be understood!

Why are many schools not training staff about the importance of attachment. We have brain circuits wired for attachment & belonging. Most schools are also not trained in attachment theory,emotional regulation, & nervous system awareness,fight,flight conditions & more.🧠🌱

@suzannezeedyk In full agreement!! The term I created is Neuro-Nurturing®. Every adult that directly or indirectly influences children needs this understanding!

Another way of putting this: "A solid understandng of biology should not be optional if you work with children." They are the same thing. It's just that the name "trauma-informed" caught on, instead of "biologically-inf" or "attachment-inf". We needed a word to get our attention.
