When you go through the trouble of incompetently staging a very obvious fake shootout, incompetently fail to escape during the commotion, but then realize the people supposed to arrest you are just as incompetent as you and you can just effortlessly slip out a few hours later.

@krembeni (As someone who played the original when it came out but hasn't played the remakes yet) there's also an element of "maybe this time something different will happen/ maybe it's not as fated as we thought" which wouldn't be as shocking for Square (or at least the old Square) to do.

I feel like the Remakes as flawed as they are, are definitely in conversation with that metatextual aspect of knowing the twist before it even starts with how they handle fate and all, with being unable to prevent it happening again being more twisting of the knife in the wound

I decided to test the Mixtape rewind animation. It doesn’t work. That’s the wrong direction to rewind a tape. If you keep doing it you’ll damage the magnetic film.

@MissFushiGaming Also, elder millennial here. We sometimes did this even if there wasn't any problem with the tape, even if there was a rewind function in walkmans, because it was simply a kind of fidget spinner fun thing to do. Both spinning the tape and spinning the pen work.
