Bayelsa-owned aircraft is here! Today, history was made as we landed at the Bayelsa International Airport, Yenagoa, from Abuja on board one of our two newly acquired aircraft for its inaugural commercial flight. I was joined on the maiden flight by the Honourable Minister of State Petroleum (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Ph.D, Managing Director, NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, Ph.D, members of the National Assembly from the state, members of the State House of Assembly, elder statesmen, and other top government officials. We are intentional about the economic development of our dear state and so, a daily flight operation to enhance movement into and out of Yenagoa, the state capital will now be sustained. At the brief ceremony this morning and following a careful consultation in the full glare of key leaders and other citizens, it was unanimous that the aircraft is to be run under a Bayelsa name, details of which would be worked out by the relevant agencies. Between the name “Air Bayelsa” or “Bayelsa Air”, the aircraft would be managed and operated by Pioneer Airlines owned by our son, a tested aviation expert, Captain Henry Ungbuku. Congratulations to all Bayelsans!

This afternoon in Yenagoa, I received the Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Company, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, who is in Bayelsa State to establish a manufacturing plant. I am particularly touched by his call for partnership in establishing a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion station in our dear state. Our administration in the past five years has continued to build infrastructure to attract investors including the ongoing gas turbines project to ensure a steady supply of electricity. It is great to cheer that Bayelsa remains one of the safest states in the country following our huge investments in technology to boost security. The implication of this is that the investment of Innoson is safe in Bayelsa. On behalf of the Government of Assured Prosperity and the good people of Bayelsa State, I do appreciate our industrialist, Chief Chukwuma, for this strategic business visit to the “Glory of all Lands.”

This afternoon, in the spirit of the 29th anniversary of our dear Bayelsa State, I visited the site of our gas turbines project at Elebele community, Ogbia Local Government Area. In the company of my deputy, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, @iamElaw, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayaiwe, and other top government functionaries, I was conducted round the facility to physically inspect the turbines and other accessories that had recently arrived at the project site for installation. This independent power project is so dear to my heart and the commitment of our Government of Assured Prosperity to deliver a 24-hour electricity supply this December is unwavering. This project remains a legacy and represents a defining moment in our journey to economic boost and industrialisation. Also today, I made a stop at Igbogene and Ovom, to inspect progress of work on the 25,000-seat Olympics standard stadium and the 9-storey secretariat complex. I am happy to note that the projects are well on course. Once again, congratulations to all Bayelsans as we clock 29 years as an independent homogeneous Ijaw state.
