@bransworldd I like to base music off my emotional reaction. With this album I felt very underwhelmed, despite being super excited and anxious for the release. Ariana’s vocals and the production was perfect in my opinion, but the songs all sounded the same, energy wise.

Once you make art and release it to the world you let go of control over its meaning. It’s literally for others to interpret for themselves. I interpret it as not that good.

@Crosski99227132 yes artists should absolutely be grateful, but the fans being the reason for their position in the industry doesn’t subject them to doing what they say just bcus they said so tho ? yes ofc take their feedback & apply it where you think it matters but these people aren’t puppets.

@urururr16 again it’s fine if you don’t like it, but to act as though people aren’t intentionally spewing hatred towards the project just because is just untrue. if you don’t like something it’d be a lot more respectable to state those reasons why rather than just saying “ts ass” yk?

@bransworldd i have reasons i don’t think it’s good, it’s not hating for the sake of it. it was less a discussion abt the album itself and moreso articulating that it’s rly funny we get the same cookie cutter “you guys are being mean🥺” or “don’t understand it” when it’s widely disliked.

@bransworldd first, you said there’s no rules to art but then put a rule on my shitting on a whiteboard. that seems contradictory to me. also, there’s no real way to quantify ‘effort,’ and even if there were, effort/sincerity still doesn’t dictate quality. plenty of sincere art is mediocre.

I hate this take so much. Like no it costs money to consume said art and it’s constantly being marketed and comes with merch and other products… it’s not an altruistic selfless deed please.

@urururr16 so u aren’t obligated to think the art is good but u aren’t obligated to hate on it just for the sake of doing so either. u can say u didn’t enjoy something w/o downplaying the fact that someone put their heart into it & wanted to share with the world to hopefully move ppl (3/3)

@urururr16 i think it’s kinda obvious that doing that on a whiteboard wouldn’t be considered art because there was quite literally no energy or effort put into that…at all ? so that’s immediately incomparable- (2/3)
