If you're a singer/songwriter and are trying music production, here's the best tip I've learned: Stop listening to the words. Compression, EQ, reverb, instrumental balance, all require you focus on the *sound*. Lyrics will distract your attention. Stop. Listening. To. The. Words.

I think Viva la Vida is one of the best songs of the 2000s. It had such a maturity and depth to it and feels timeless. Coldplay really hit it out of the park with that one
