@bread_doppio @thegreatgarrlic @HannyahZ Yea i get it. It doesnt make me suddenly like its design. Its still not a bird or animal and just a short guy in a costume. Among my least favorite monster designs.

@thegreatgarrlic @HannyahZ I actually really dislike this one also. Its easier to ignore though because I'm not expected to pick one of 3 as my team linchpin. But dang is howlucha awful, its not even a beak. Why does it have a mouth under the beak. This isnt a bird

@MaximumADHD What kind of a 3d artist would turn a clearly smooth curved line into a jagged mess. This is not the kind of mistake that a human would ever make. It takes more effort to make a jumbled mess than a smooth curve for a human. Why would they do that.

there's also a chance this is just a sloppy conversion because the artist had no idea what they were looking at.

@JiujitsuOtter Alright to any wrestling coaches out there, I did judo with olympic ruleset growing up so it was mostly trips and upper body stuff. I never learned to shoot low like this How do I go about it without destroying my knees?

@KaraB2728452 @terracottahart If you kill a guy then let a vulture eat from them in mgs3, you can then kill and eat the vulture and there is unique dialogue from the persons soul in the lake sequence.

@Knightly_Hist I’ve been looking at his piece for a while now trying to understand exactly how he riveted the piccadill velvet ribbon to the edges of the shoulders. Is each flap separate or is it all one strip? How does this not stop the articulation of the plates? 😭

It's funny for me to see this piece finished because I followed it's development (online) year after year. What a masterpiece.

@Knightly_Hist Diligent Dwarves' youtube channel features several people trying on this armour and it's really quiet from the liner backing.

@Knightly_Hist curious as to the purpose of this hinge, I would think the red highlighted parts would collide with the blue ones, how would it pivot?

@M31odyyy @TweetingGaruga Topology is inevitably a budget, and you are going to spend the most on what people see the most frequently. Having a large asset that is the center of attention always and practically the only thing in a somewhat small arena is the perfect situation to splurge on polycount.

@M31odyyy @TweetingGaruga With the caveat that, including this and gog, this is best practice *for models that are very close to the camera or that the player will pay a lot of attention to (and in gog's case, are especially large)*. You wouldn't go around doing this so some random chair in a level.

@M31odyyy @TweetingGaruga If you were around when armchair experts got upset at the Silent Hill 2 remake's pyramid head topology, it's for the same reason, even more so because it has no need for deformation topology. At the highest LOD having high poly for silhouette features makes sense.

@M31odyyy @TweetingGaruga Yeah I think a huge amount of the seemingly excess topology is for small animation details, like physics-y flowing on quematrice's back nubs.

@M31odyyy @TweetingGaruga Displacement maps like scale alphas and noise are used in the high poly sculpting, which does change the silhouette, but it's then baked onto a lower poly mesh in the form of normal and height maps, which only fake the detail with lighting and don't change the silhouette.
