What is time complexity of this? int main() { std::set<int> s = {1,2,3,9,8}; auto it = std::lower_bound(s.begin(), s.end(), 6); if (it != s.end()) { std::cout << "Found: " << *it; } else { std::cout << "Not found"; } }

A friend of mine took a ₹45L home loan in 2018. Last month, he paid it off completely, 8 years ahead of schedule. Every spare rupee he could save went into prepayment instead of investments. He told us over dinner, and the reaction was not what he expected. Some of us genuinely argued that he had made a financial mistake, that the money would have compounded better in mutual funds, and that he'd essentially wasted the opportunity. Maybe we were right mathematically. But he sleeps better than ever now. Was this the wrong call? Would love to hear from people who've been on both sides of this decision.

without googling, i still cannot figure out how to copy and paste on a mac into: 1. the provided Terminal app (which sucks) 2. Ghostty. C-V does nothing, C-v goes into escape insertion (expected). I refuse to google this and it should just be obvious...

@Incognito_qfs Tamil Hindus aren’t your cowbelt puppets. They’ll light a deepam for Ram and turn around and vote against your hate-filled Hindutva the very next second. Because here, devotion isn’t a political weapon; it’s a personal flame that refuses to burn anyone else’s house down.

I am so so convinced that Vijay Joseph will turn out to be Arvind Kejriwal of Tamil Nadu. He won't survive more than one or two elections before getting exposed. DMK is at its weakest right now. AIADMK is finished. It is right time to bring Annamalai back into equation. He should be the face of Tamil Nadu BJP for the next 10 years.

CEO of Coinbase bragging that non-technical people are now using AI to ship production code. When a CEO says this, one of two things is true: either they don't know what production code is, or they're selling you a story. This kind of hype is how businesses end up in real trouble. The people shipping the code and the CEOs cheering them on won't be the ones held responsible when it breaks. They collect their paycheck either way. Users will find out the hard way, once unreviewed code has touched their money, medical records, identities, private messages, kids' data, legal documents, critical infrastructure. By then it's too late. Production code isn't a vibe.

World Health Organization (WHO)@WHO

#Hantavirus cluster linked to cruise ship travel:  Since 1 April when the boat set sail, of the 147 passengers and crew, 7 people have become ill, among whom 3 have died, 1 is critically ill and 3 are reporting mild symptoms.   Based on the current information, including how hantavirus spreads, WHO assesses the risk to the global population from this event as low. We are working closely with health authorities from the countries involved and the ship's operators to ensure passengers and crew get the information and support they need.   WHO will continue to monitor the situation and update the risk assessment as more information becomes available.   More information bit.ly/42Tc4J7

In the last 4 months I've created multiple pieces of software that I now use every day. I've also created countless one-off scripts for analysis, visualization, etc. This is what I love about agentic coding: it lets me build shit I wouldn't even have bothered with before.

All jokes aside * +15 direct reports is an insane number pre AI * Now coordination is harder because things can "move faster." * Now the boss should also code?? Ship features?? How is this even reasonable?

This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Coinbase: Team, Today I’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%. I want to walk you through why we're doing this now, what it means for those affected, and how this positions us for the future. Why now Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front footed to respond to both. First, the market. Coinbase is well-capitalized, has diversified revenue streams, and is well-positioned to weather any storm. Crypto is also on the verge of the next wave of adoption, with stablecoins, prediction markets, tokenization, and more taking off. However, our business is still volatile from quarter to quarter. While we've managed through that cyclicality many times before and come out stronger on the other side, we’re currently in a down market and need to adjust our cost structure now so that we emerge from this period leaner, faster, and more efficient for our next phase of growth. Second, AI is changing how we work. Over the past year, I’ve watched engineers use AI to ship in days what used to take a team weeks. Non-technical teams are now shipping production code and many of our workflows are being automated. The pace of what's possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it's accelerating every day. All of this has led us to an inflection point, not just for Coinbase, but for every company. The biggest risk now is not taking action. We are adjusting early and deliberately to rebuild Coinbase to be lean, fast, and AI-native. We need to return to the speed and focus of our startup founding, with AI at our core. What this means To get there, we are not just reducing headcount and cutting costs, we’re fundamentally changing how we operate: rebuilding Coinbase as an intelligence, with humans around the edge aligning it. What does this mean in practice? - Fewer layers, faster decisions: We are flattening our org structure to 5 layers max below CEO/COO. Layers slow things down and create coordination tax. The future is small, high context teams that can move quickly. Leaders will own much more, with as many as 15+ direct reports. Fewer layers also means a leaner cost structure that is built to perform through all market cycles. - No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams. - AI-native pods: We’ll be concentrating around AI-native talent who can manage fleets of agents to drive outsized impact. We’ll also be experimenting with reduced pod sizes, including “one person teams” with engineers, designers, and product managers all in one role. In short: AI is bringing a profound shift in how companies operate, and we’re reshaping Coinbase to lead in this new era. This is a new way of working, and we need to leverage AI across every facet of our jobs. To those who are affected I know there are real people behind these decisions — talented colleagues who have poured themselves into this company and our mission. To those of you who will be leaving: thank you. You’ve helped build Coinbase into what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for everything you've done. All impacted team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and a senior leader in your organization. Coinbase system access has been removed today. I know this feels sudden and harsh, but it is the only responsible choice given our duty to protect customer information. To those affected, we will be providing a comprehensive package to support you through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Employees on a work visa will get extra transition support. Those outside of the US will receive similar support, based on local factors and subject to any consultation requirements. Coinbase prides itself on talent density. Our employees are among the most talented people in the world, and I have no doubt that your skills and experience will be highly sought after as you pursue your next chapters. How we move forward To the team that is staying, I know this is a difficult day. We’re saying goodbye to colleagues and friends you've been in the trenches with. But here’s what I want you to know as we move forward together: Over the past 13 years, we have weathered four crypto winters, gone public, and built the most trusted platform in our industry. We’ve made it this far by making hard decisions and by always staying focused on our mission. This time will be no different – nothing has changed about the long term outlook of our company or industry. And most importantly, our mission has never been more important for the world. Increasing economic freedom requires a new financial system, and we’re building it. The Coinbase that emerges from this will be more capable than ever to achieve our mission. Brian

I gave the same task to GPT-5.5 xhigh and Opus 4.7 max. – GPT took ~30 minutes. – Opus took ~2 hours. Then I asked them to review each other's work and give an honest verdict on which was better. – GPT said its own code was better. – Opus said there was no obvious winner. Then I asked them to learn from each other and apply the best parts they had learned to their own code. In the end, I asked them to review each other again and give an honest verdict after they had both improved. – GPT kept saying its own code was better. – Opus said GPT's code was better. What a journey.

Astonished to read a May 2024 column by a seasoned mainstream Bengal journalist who argued that the BJP doesn’t understand Bengal because (among other things) “sexual malfeasance is not a conversation point in Bengal.” Exact words. I’m not making this up. 2 years later:

Village life looks very peaceful, and it is. I spend 6-8 days every month in my village. Fresh air, greenery, low cost living, feels good. But there is another side: School - Very few options. Mostly govt schools with basic facilities. For better education after primary, you usually have to shift to a nearby town or city. Healthcare - No proper hospitals. Small clinics are there, but for anything serious or even tests, you have to go to the city. Jobs - Limited earning options. Mostly farming or small local work. Internet - Network is weak or inconsistent. Problem if you work online or need regular connectivity. Transport - Very few buses or fixed timings. Without your own vehicle, moving around becomes difficult. Infrastructure - Roads are not in great condition. Internal lanes are narrow, drainage and street lights are also not proper in many places. Lifestyle - Simple and slow life. Peaceful, but limited choices in daily living, shopping, or activities. Exposure - Less exposure to new ideas, careers, or trends. Growth opportunities can feel limited. Social - Close community. Good support system, but sometimes too much involvement in personal matters. Village life is calm, but it comes with real limitations. City life also has its own challenges. What would you choose village life or city life?
