@TeamYouTube My organization's name, Zotero, is a registered trademark. What is the process to reclaim the zotero YouTube handle as the trademark owner?

@brendan0connell good q! all channels (regardless of activity status) will have a handle. in most cases, if an inactive channel has a personalized URL, we will assign that as their handle

@TeamYouTube I'm trying to claim the handle "zotero" for my organization, but am receiving the error message "This handle is taken" when I attempt to do so. As far as I can see, no one else has claimed the handle, there's just a 404 error at this page: @zotero" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@zotero

@TeamYouTube Is it possible that pre-2022, there was a YouTube account with the username "zotero" that was then deleted, but the handle was still mistakenly reserved for the deleted account?

@brendan0connell there are a variety of reasons a handle may be unavailable (even if it's not taken by someone else). for ex, it may be unavailable if it potentially violates our Community Guidelines, or if it’s unsupported in our systems
