Not saying either side is "in the right," but Evolution's bread and butter is live dealer. It's foot-in-the-door for bettors to play everything else they offer. It's also very expensive and labor-intensive. There's so many products out there that are only RNG that bettors trust. So long as they trust the computer's RNG, many will play. It's proven with most slot machines and all video poker in casinos. Not to mention virtual sports, mobile lottery games, sweepstakes, and VGTs. Inspired Entertainment has "Hybrid Dealer," which looks like historical footage of dealers over big wheel and roulette games would drastically cut labor costs. Evolution itself mentioned in a video last year they are experimenting with AI. One idea super-imposes an animated figure over the dealer. Hell, I mentioned a horse race simulator I programmed on an Atari 800XL in 1987. Grok produced one for me (albeit very simple, text only) in seconds. The strikers do not accept live dealers are similar to blackjack dealers. They are entry-level positions with high turnover. I can think of two I follow here that started as blackjack dealers and became executives. Not everything Evolution tries works, they're upfront about it, but it's becoming obvious live dealers are eventually replacable.

It will go down as one of the greatest fumbles ever that we, as an industry, had the chance to right the wrongs of the past, yet we actively chose to introduce millions of new bettors to the American odds system. @a_kane47 you had another shot at fixing this; you could have been the savior by popularizing the far superior decimal odds system in an exchange perfectly suited for it! 🤦‍♂️😂 On the bright side, at least most of us were smart enough not to bring rotation numbers into the apps.

@brendangered Prophet is going live in 40 states with a sweeps based sports book. I imagine they’d offer parlays. Frankly I don’t know why they would announce that, only draws attention and a target on them.

I keep warning about sweeps people. Kill them before they eat the licensed and regulated industry. But then again why do I give a shit if they kick your ass.

Bit of a double-edged sword; it's obviously great to make hay while the sun shines, but the longer-term regulatory outlook is perhaps a little uncertain for such a key part of their business.

Nice little data point in Catena's earnings; Sweepstakes now account for one third of their casino revenue. I only did pass maths, but I make that at 3.3M EUR for Q2, 25% of the business's total revenue.

Without a spin playing out properly intensity goes down imho (assuming I understand what you mean by intensity).

@InfiniteEdgeKim @FintanCostello I don't think time / cost-per-hour is the right lens -- a football or library card wins that hands down. Need to factor in accessibility/effort, and intensity of entertainment (snoozing in front of a box set vs edge-of-your-seat gaming).

@gamblinglamb It's 100% theatre, but they need to do something to push back against tax rises. They were surely hoping for other operators to row in behind them, but that seems unlikely now.
