We've lost Greg Hildebrandt. The work he & his brother did on those Marvel Masterwork cards will forever live in our imagination. Iconic.

As a kid we had the 1978 Lord of the Rings calendar around for years after it was done. There wasn’t much art in my house but this collection painted by the Hildebrandt brothers was an incalculable inspiration to me. RIP Greg Hildebrandt.

#SciFiDaily RIP Greg Hildebrandt, who died yesterday. He and his late brother Tim were to high fantasy art what Frank Frezetta was to swords & sorcery. In Greg's honor, picked one of my favorite Brothers Hildebrandt for today's post. The world has lost a prodigious talent.

RIP Greg Hildebrandt. The wonderful American artist and his twin brother Tim have produced a wealth of magnificent illustrations for sci-fi and fantasy. Including the classic variant of the Tom Jung Star Wars (1977) poster art. He was 85.
