Lottery reform I’m in favor of: -Traded picks can be lotto protected, but no more specific than that -Limit on consecutive lottery results. Ex: team can’t pick top 2 in consecutive drafts -Conference finals teams are exempt from lotto selection (top 4) a year later

I think it's impossible to look at the 20 year run of the Kings before 2023 and think "well, they were just unlucky." The Maloofs were the biggst problem, but Vivek, who I think genuinely WANTS to be great, has not installed the right organization from a development standpoint.

1000% with Matt on this. There are even more factors that go into the outcomes of players besides just identifying who should be drafted based on talent, that stem from poor management and structure within the organization. There are most certainly circumstances where a player isn't successful because of choices they made, but let's also call into questions the situations around these franchises and WHY they're perpetually awful. And I would guarantee, it's not because they haven't had the first pick in the draft at face value.

The point I’m making is it’s unfair to put that on anyone. Draft the best players, the ones you hope can be second or third best. Anything beyond that is gravy.

In the last 17 seasons, 9 players have been the best player on a championship team. Only LeBron and Tatum were top 5 picks. If you make the case for AD, KD, TD, that’s 5 players in last 17 years. Best players on championship teams are usually guys that exceed expectations.
