@lammas_leaves @bbcgoodfood Because the starter builds up gases while it ferments, glass jars especially lock lid ones like kilner jars can on rare occasions explode particularly if you're keeping the starter at room temperature. Plastic is always the safer option, lid pops off with gas buildup no harm done

Sad to see this. A drum of pear concentrate seen in Somerset England, of all places, a traditional cider and perry county. This is manufactured from dessert pears in Türkiye by göknur, a very large industrial food product company. Make sure your cider is local and wholesome.
